This just makes me really sad. How do we stop this type of thing from happening? Parents. Please. Think about your kids. They are watching everything you do and say. This guy should never be allowed on a field again let alone coaching young athletes.

Exactly why I quit umpiring; the coaches, the kids, the parents, all the horrible attitudes. I wish I could go to their jobs and call them horrible at what they do and how much they suck at their jobs.

Calling that a strike is a bad call. Throwing the kid out is being a chump. The coach pulling that crap is despicable.

I was a youth baseball coach for many years and I was good at it. This idiot coaching kids to backtalk blue and then him acting like that should never be allowed to coach kids again.

Fire the coach immediately and ban him for life from baseball. Ban the kid from ball for a year minimum.

These kind of coaches (they are everywhere) have this kind of mentality. Still stuck in high school.

We can start by naming the club and coaches. When organizations stop allowing these coaches from registering to coach or don’t allow teams into a tournament/league, it will stop.

You can’t argue balls and strikes. Was it a bad call? Yes. Does one call honestly determine an outcome? No. Are umpires human and make mistakes? Yes. Coach needs to grow tf up

If you are calling that a strike you have to look the other way when someone complains. Can’t eject that kid that quickly when you missed that so bad. If you expect leeway, you’ve got to give it also

Being a umpire . If it keeps up won’t be many more left. I keep doing it because I love the game still. But there are days when I say to myself this shit isn’t worth it. Guarantee if that coach was asked to go behind the plate more than likely he wouldn’t do it.

Certainly the wrong call by the ump. But, that coach should never be let on a field again. You could tell that the batter and likely the whole team acts poorly when things don’t go their way, being demonstrative, yelling at the ump. All learned from their immature, short fused, douchey coach.

First thing I tell my boys, the umps are going to make bad calls, especially at that age. They don’t talk back to them, ever, or they will be benched. That’s my job to handle them. As for the coach, he shouldn’t coach if he’s ready to physical hit anyone in what’s max a 12u game.

The umpires should have walked off the field and the team should of had to forfeit. These asshole dads think they are Earl Weaver while coaching 13 year olds. Disgraceful!

Easy to see why the player acts like that after watching the coach. Embarrassing.

What the kid said wasn't heard, and with the pointing of the bat was most likely provocative. Since the umpire responding that quick points to that probability. (Probably a life changing educational moment for that young youth, that may prevent him from doing that to someone that has a weapon, later in life.) Next, slow the video down and watch the ball cross at the letters. High fastball strike call. Ump has responsibility to not only the batter, but to the pitcher. Don't want to put it in his hands, swing that bat when the count dictates "protect mode". Be the predator, or be the prey. Additionally: there is a minimum of $3,000 dollars worth of bats in that dugout. Bats only work if they are swung. Strike zone reflects this. Pitcher's team complains about a "coffee can" stike zone, batter's team complains about their 2 dimensional flawed observation of "pitch tunnel", that is only truly observed by the pitcher, catcher, and umpire. Put a muzzle on those sitting in the stands observing a pitch tunnel from a perpendicular perspective. Finally, the role modeling by the coach will not create better players, but better criminals.

Umpire here. There is a massive shortage of umpires. The adult umpires can generally take it, but a park full of kids just watched that and will never step up to umpire..cant blame them. This ump may be a little toss happy, but probably for a reason with this bunch

As far as just the called strike - terrible. Those kinds of calls are what forces kids to take terrible swings at the plate.

#1, that’s a ball. Blue deserved the heat from the bleachers. #2, kid should not have reacted that way and a good coach would’ve been more focused on the kid than the ump #3, fire the coach, ban him and get him anger management help. He has no business being around children.

Two of my kids played softball and baseball when they were young, and the best coaches they had were the ones that truly believed and practiced that it was an opportunity for kids to learn about team play, and good sportsmanship while having fun and directing their energy into something positive. The worst ones thought every game was game 7 of the world series.

Ok…so it’s tough to tell from the camera angle and the catcher and ump position, but I’m not sure that’s as egregiously inside as it looks. C sets up outer corner and glove *looks* like it’s on the inside corner. Kid for sure can’t point the bat at the ump and the coach is crazy

That big of kids playing on just 60’ bases means this is a Little League brand game … that is a strike every day in Little League and to be honest … a strike most days in PG travel ball if it’s an afternoon game .. still too close of a pitch for kid to take .. umpires usually tell us before the game to “tell your kids to swing” @LittleLeague

Ump should never be on a feild again

Lots of these replies are exactly why many kids these days are punks. Disagree with the call all you want when the kid turned around and said something to the umpire it became his discretion to eject. Parenting is soft, not the umpire. This is a microcosm of today’s parents.

As an umpire, the coach should be banned for life. And people wonder why there’s a shortage of umpires. You don’t get paid enough to deal with this bullshit most umpires do it cause they love the game. 50% of parents ruin youth sports.

That coach should be banned from ever coaching again. That ump could actually file assault charges on him.

Idc what age is played or your opinion of the umpire. He has the best angle, not the video which IS NOT directly behind home plate. There’s plenty of openings for all of you social media officials. ANY coach acting like this should be banned for life. Add an assault charge too

Teach your kid to swing if it's close with 2 strikes

Unfortunately our culture pushes selfishness and pride over brotherly love and humility. Not sure we can go back without out a huge revival in this country.
