He's not very good at all. For example: "do you think we should leave murder up to the states?" Murder is left up the states. Only a small subset of murders enter federal jurisdiction such as murdering a federal official or murdering in multiple states.

Fair point on the jurisdiction issue. I don't know that it settles the larger discussion, but it's a reasonable criticism of that particular analogy.

Dean was all over the place. On constitutional grounds, Dobbs is correct. 100%. The real question is: At what point does a living human deserve protection from being intentionally killed? Some argue that protection should begin when the human's life begins. Others argue it should be at some subjective point in that human's life. I find that most of those who hold the latter opinion have to lie to themselves about the fact that a new individual living human is created at conception. It's rare to find a pro-abortion advocate who will address that scientific biological reality. Dean admitted it, although probably not intentionally, when he said that IUDs kill the human by preventing implantation.

Biology shows a new organism begins at conception, but legal and moral personhood are separate categories that’s where the real disagreement is. And on IUDs, whether you call that “killing” depends entirely on whether implantation is defined as the start of pregnancy, which is itself contested.

Implantation is objectively not the beginning of human life. "But legal and moral personhood are separate categories." I'd argue that there's no such thing as moral personhood. Personhood is a legal designation conferred on humans by a given society. For example, a society could decide that personhood begins at five years old, or depends on skin color, eye color, or intellectual ability. Morality can influence legal personhood, but it is not its own category of personhood.

I get your point on conception marking the beginning of a distinct human organism, and I don’t really think that biological claim is the main issue of disagreement. The real divide is what we do with that fact whether biology alone is enough to determine moral and legal personhood, or whether other considerations come into play as well. That’s probably where we’re just not going to fully align.

Honestly, I think it's great that you can stand on your own two feet and say, "I know a new living human is created at conception and I still think it's OK to kill them under (X) conditions." That's admirable and uncommon in my experience. More commonly, the average abortion advocate will not accept that reality. They say things like the life hasn't begun until birth, or that they are a parasite, or whatever weird rationale they come up with to avoid the reality that they're advocating for killing innocent human beings.

I don’t think most disagreement comes from denying biology. It’s more that people interpret the moral significance of that biology differently, especially when it comes to bodily autonomy and legal rights. Either way, I think we’re just coming at it from different philosophical starting points, so we’ll probably leave it there. Appreciate the discussion.

The kid was ok, but @benshapiro was obviously better. .. and to clarify on the kid's last point, he would not be a murderer nor convicted as a Class I murderer in any state. Generally, a drunk driving incident that results in a homicide falls under the manslaughter category, acting with complete disregard for human life. Murder, or Murder I, in some states, requires the intent to murder.

@benshapiro 💯

On all of these debate clips these young punks come up with so much arrogance all they want to do is score points. Some of them are quite intelligent but they’re absolute fools when it comes to life!

There’s probably some truth to that. Intelligence and wisdom aren’t always the same thing, and debate formats can sometimes reward quick point-scoring more than genuine understanding. Life experience tends to teach lessons that are hard to pick up from arguments alone.

He’s really not. Says the same thing over and over an d talks fast. Thats about it…..

Dean never debates in good faith, it’s not about an exchange of ideas for him. It’s just about throwing out hypotheticals and backing people into “gotcha” moments.

That shows he’s good If a question exposes a weakness in a position, that isn’t bad faith it’s exactly what discussion is supposed to test.

He's strawmanning his brains out, so no, not impressive at all.

you’re talking about the blonde kid? y’all will just say anything, huh? 😂

Haha, people definitely have strong opinions about him. Whether you agree with him or not, I think some of the reactions are a bit more emotional than analytical.

Can’t stand this fucking weasel like Jesus Christ has his voice not drop since puberty?!?

😅😅

I agree with Dean’s stance but Ben won that debate.

I don’t think Dean is on the same level as Ben Shapiro in terms of depth or structure of argument, but he is well-articulated and composed, which is part of why people find him compelling to listen to even when they disagree.

I like him. I just think Ben was more composed and didn’t reach for hyperbole in this instance.

Im pro abortion, and he got clowned. His argument made no sense and was irrelevant.

I guess we watched it differently. Agree or disagree with him, I thought he articulated his position reasonably well and kept the conversation moving.

No. He isn’t.

I can’t decide which one of them is more insufferable.

Both

This is what it sounds like when an underdeveloped miseducated adult tries debating a well developed and well educated man.

This kid is a self-deluded narcissist with no moral compass and lacks the self awareness to logically assess his own arguments.

Not really. He's pompous and peculiar. Not a serious debate ... rather he is more focused on sanctimonious points.

I don’t think Dean is on the same level as Ben Shapiro in terms of depth or structure of argument, but he is well-articulated and composed, which is part of why people find him compelling to listen to even when they disagree.

@GettrAppendix Dean is what happens when you let a retard take too much adderall.

@___TheGOOdWitch Yes. And when do they stop adderall? After they have a career as a neurosurgeon, or a structural engineer? Yeah. Best to work with your limitations like the rest of us.

You mean he is a fool. Abortion is murder.

Abortion is health care

@Mgwill The fetus doesn’t see it that way.

@Mgwill Life begins at conception!! I don’t equate early-stage fetus development with a fully independent person, particularly given its total dependence on the pregnant person. That’s why I frame it as healthcare rather than murder.

@JulieQs6y5jtr2b Yes. Life begins at conception.

@JulieQs6y5jtr2b Conception is when the baby is made so abortion is murder.

He just has prepped talking points repeated over and over.

Seems likely

2 observations Blondie is trying to box Ben into a corner by framing Ben's position in the most convoluted way. He was unsuccessful. The longer he talked the faster he talked. Appears that he knew that he wasn't 'winning' so he tried the 'If I say more words I win' strategy.

Correct and that’s kinda impressive

So if the state allows rape/slavery/murder we should all be ok with it? WTF kind of argument is this? No the state does not control morality! Our rights to Life, Liberty, Pursuit of happiness is not given by the state they are given to us by God as individuals!

Dude with the weird hat completely destroyed the blonde kid. Don’t bring poor high school education to a man with an actual education. I don’t even know anything about retarded USA laws because they are completely stupid but this man knows more about his retarded backwards laws

Freudian slip? “Starving it to death” does he also thinks it’s murder?

Having the privilege to be born and live a full life is also good and impressive. Harder to do these days. We are all survivors of abortion. Thankfully.

most people weren’t ever in an actionable situation where an abortion was even possible in the relevant sense. I think the better argument is simply that being alive is valuable in itself, without needing that comparison.

Nah not really. He just spews shi no real opinion

Kid did great. This actually was a good back & forth presenting both facts as well as personal views w/o trying to attack, but more so clarify each of their stances & reasoning. This is a debate.

💯👌🏻

I wish Nigerians weren’t allowed on x

Keep wishing

Hes not though. He’s pretty much wrong on every point.

I love onions, but hate candy. The ingredients for both came out of the ground. So shouldn’t I love both of them? That’s how this kid argues. The foods are completely different.

Dean Withers iirc.

Alli see is a white knighter who's become obsessed with a stance he thinks will get him laid

He’s so passionate 🤭

No, he’s not. Define what viability means and then start from there

Screw women's rights just get all girls who can have a child and impregnate them any way possible. And then just have a baby farm that way we can have a balance of reality of these femenazies who put this problem in a giant square it's the mens fault as if it's up to all men and women to do these things in a factory somewhere... Fuck the femenazies. The familia is the only consideration that should be considered when having to ask these stupid questions...

I agree that family is an important consideration. At the same time, these issues involve a lot of competing interests and values, which is probably why people disagree so strongly about them.

He’s actually getting stomped in this clip but go on…
