I found it bloody distasteful that there was a freaking Costa Coffee and kebab van along with a gift shop selling souvenir teapots* etc. Can you imagine? “That’s a lovely teapot” “Cheers. I bought it at Auschwitz. Milk and sugar?” What I didn’t do however, is film myself complaining about it all. *I’d actually bought that same design of teapot a few days earlier in Folkstar in Warsaw so I was a little taken aback to see it alongside the souvenir postcards and fucking fridge magnets at Auschwitz . I collect fridge magnets, my fridge door is covered in them but I’m not going to stick something to my fridge which commemorates a visit to the site of my relatives’ murders. What is wrong with people?

I’m not Jewish, I’m not European, and the people of the region where I grew up had no part in these atrocities. Yet every time I’ve visited a Nazi concentration camp, I’ve been deeply shaken for days afterward, overwhelmed by the sheer scale of human suffering and almost ashamed of being human. If anyone asked me what to bring when visiting a place like this, I’d say: gather every bit of humanity, empathy, resilience, and emotional strength you have and bring that with you. I genuinely cannot comprehend this level of lack of empathy and self-awareness.

We've seen videos of Israelis going to Auschwitz singing and dancing while Polish people asking them to be quiet. She's allowed to make this stupid video. Westerners arent going to take morality lessons from Jews after spending 3 years listening to you blood liable Europeans.

I think that's quite mean. Just because it's an historic/somber location doesn't mean you get carte blanche for piss-poor hospitality and rip-off refreshments, especially as many visitors will be older. Even a motorway layby cafe has non-dairy milk these days. And 🥤 under £5.

The lack of respect is epic.. They should perhaps restrict their travels to Bognore Regis.
