Yup! My son did a lot of sport & accepted losing. He had a paper round at 13. Pot washed at 16. Got a job when he left school. Travelled for 2 years. All paid for by him! He knows, if he wants something, you have to earn it. Saying no to kids is also an expression of love.

I’m not Gen X, but I still recognise all of this. It’s spot on. In short, we removed accountability. With that came all our problems.

Reminds me of something I said to a friend "Your kids will be adults a lot longer than they'll be kids, be harsher and prepare them for adulthood and teach them how to be happier for the longest part of their life".
