Tucked into the unruly folds of Maramureș, up in Ruscova, northern Romania, the hills open like old green manuscripts beneath the sky. Nature heals 💚

## Romania is using blockchain to count Presidential electoral votes today. The Permanent Electoral Authority in Romania (ROAP - Romania Autoritatea Electorală Permanentă) is using blockchain technology to count and validate today's (Nov 24) presidential electoral votes. People from all over the world can follow the data in real-time at leveraging the use of a public ledger to offer more transparency and data immutability. The tool is offered in partnership with Romania's Special Telecommunication Service (STS - Serviciul de Telecomunicații Speciale, in Romanian), although it is not clear which infrastructure the country is using. ### Anybody has more information about that? What blockchain are they using? Since when was this implemented? Who else was responsible for implementing it? Really groundbreaking use case, given the usual electoral concerns, which illustrates how deep into the blockchain technology Romania is and some opportunities for blockchain developers surging in the country. --- Sources: - Dr. X 🧬 ( - damian (
