This legendary overtake turns 25 today

The mother of all overtakes! Brilliant!!!!!

I remember the day I watched it on tv with amusement

Ironically, it marked a total domination for many years by the Ferrari team. The humiliation of that day must have galvanized the team.

Hakkinen was great

We're at that time of the world history that, a TV footage from quarter century ago is pretty high definition, not grainy and faded.

Back then as a hard-core Schumacher fan I went ballistic at the TV. When I saw this much later as an older F1 fan in general, it was actually a fantastic balls-to-the-wall move that demands the respect it deserves. I think this kicked Ferrari in another gear!!

It's amazing how we managed to see the best and worst of both drivers in one race. Michael put in some absolutely bruising lap times but got dirty when he wanted to stay ahead and Mika had a bit of a flaky spin but clawed it back and put in an overtake that nobody else could do

No DRS or Hybrid shenanigans btw

Hopefully with DRS banned we can go back to passes that matter.

That is ace. And from a true gent as well. Doesn't get better than that.
