In 2012, Wizkid won a BET Award at age 21 and didn't show up due to this. In 2015, he called them out for still doing this. He was in Los Angeles, where the awards show was taking place and refused to show up due to the disrespect. Yemi Alade and Fuse ODG also boycotted the 2015 BET Awards. They started presenting the award on the main stage in 2018.
