Your government wants you to believe that the whole world is conspiring against you, that the Palestinian people are terrorists, that the UN is filled with terrorist and terrorist supporters, that your closest allies are your enemies. This most radical Israeli government and its Foreign Minister are calling for “de radicalization” of the Palestinian society as a whole, calling them “human animals” and “children of darkness”. They want you to believe that your survival depends on your ability to continuously wage wars, including against a defenseless civilian population half of whom are children, on their erasure. The Israeli people need to decide if this is what they want their government and military doing. These atrocities that the whole world is watching and that your government is hoping you will filter out, deny or justify. In the midst of this genocide we are telling you: we choose peace and appeal to you to do the same. We do it for our children and our people. You should do it for your children and your loved ones. We are not okay, and that’s okay to say. I wish I could tell you that we are standing here and that the rest of the world is standing with us. With you. Sadly I can’t say that. There is a loud and aggressive minority around the world who doesn’t get, that being murdered at a peace festival does not equal resistance. I do however, know that we are standing here on behalf of all those people in the world, with moral clarity. And there are a lot of them. And there are many who want to be here with you. And they are here with you at heart. On October 7th, your loved ones went to Nova. We call it a peace music festival because that’s what it was—a place to make new friends, to let loos explore and celebrate life. And this juxtaposition hurts the most —because on that day, the light your loved ones were, was met with the most unimaginable darkness. Our lives will never be the same. But today, as we remember them, we also make a promise: to honor their memory by living as they would have. As we stand here in grief, we have a message to the world: we will not be defeated. In the last three weeks, another title has joined my world. In addition to being the wife of a hostage and a mother to two little girls, Roni and Alma, whose father was kidnapped before their eyes, I am now one of the Phase B people. Phase B people. We are the ones who had to be officially notified that our loved one is not on the first list. We are the ones waiting list, and there will be no surprise for us. We are the ones walking between the raindrops to continue the struggle but not to destroy anything. We are the ones who are wholeheartedly happy for our friends, the people who have become closest to us, looking at their pictures reuniting, and our tears are tears of joy and immense pain. We are the ones who feel guilty that maybe we haven’t done enough because ours has not yet returned. We are the ones who ask for forgiveness every day in our hearts from our loved ones because we have not succeeded. We are the ones who fear becoming invisible. We are the ones afraid that our day will not come. We are the ones who tell them it is getting closer, but we have no deadline. We are the ones afraid of being left behind. We are the ones whose journey will not end soon, and now we need to rise when we have no strength left. I also wanted to apologize for those whose cries have been heard for much longer, like the Goldin family. Their nightmare is over 20 years old. Another Saturday has passed, a new week begins.
