This Liberal proposal is shocking & disgusting. It affects at least two-thirds of ALL Canadians. They want to remove the charitable status tens of thousands of religious charities. Those, who are funded with OUR after-tax dollars, for the failures of their policies! 😡

Finding ways to re-tax already taxed money at every possible opportunity is just disgusting. It's not a logically sufficient explanation that they need all of it for operating the government. They're slushing, laundering and stealing the money. So they want to take as much in as possible.

The food bank in my city has been struggling for the last few year to get enough food for everyone who comes. Because of a donation last year from a church they bought a hydroponic container and can grow 400 heads of lettuce a week along with other fresh produce.

I've started going to local church about six months ago. If everybody went to church we wouldn't need a big government.

Yet when there is a disaster EVERYONE expects the churches to help. Consider that generosity to be no longer as churches won’t be able to do it.

Certain that this proposal excludes their rich friends' tax shelter NGOs that get gov funding with our tax money that goes to foreign pet projects instead of helping Canadians. 🤬

It's a terrible thing for the liberals to do, I did bookkeeping for a church which helped the community, they would not be able to help if the liberals get in.

Roughly 50% of Quebec residents are Catholic, do all those Catholics realize what they are voting for. This is a big sleeper issue.

Agreed. We must not allow the Liberal Party to win this election. The loss to so many communities, if the charitable starus is removed from religious charities, is astronomical… Many religious charities peovide faith-based and regular centres to help with addictions, poverty, and education. Then there are the community food banks, services for seniors, shelter programs, early childhood parent supports. And yes, low or no cost programs like English as a Second Language, Daycares, grief peer support groups, parent support and other peer support groups also. The Liberal Government is greedy to get revenue; and this ill-conceived tax grab is egregsrious.

Eliminating charities would force people to be reliant on government. Just another scheme to increase control (enslave) the people.

I totally support taxes on religious charities. Less than 30% of that money actually goes to the needy. The rest is sucked up in so called expenses. We need a flat rate tax. Everything is taxed. No write offs or get rid of taxation. Our system is not fair period

@JasminLaine_ Every time I bring this up I am shut down because promoting religion is not considered charitable, and that as long as they still do food drives or provide some other service they can be considered charitable but would need to apply under a different category. 🙁
