As a courier, I have done similar things to protect deliveries from thieves.

Hats off to them... but they were Visio TVs. Not sure people are risking jail for Visio...

A skilled porch pirate would see right throught that. And what idiot knows they are having such things delivered and make no allowances for them to be taken into someone's house. Just saying... We do not live in normal times. There are is lawlessness everywhere.

As an European is baffles me that packages are just left like that. In Portugal is a delivery guy did that he/she would be out of a job that same day and if any package was stolen he/she would have to pay from his/hers pocket the replacement.

and that is why you ask for 'Signature required' or 'INDIRECT DELIVERY'... so it's not just left on a porch on an open street.

Who orders large expensive items and not make sure someone’s home to take them in?

Porch pirates have been around for a long time. Why do people keeping ordering expensive stuff just like that? Be home for delivery if you can. Get some delivery box if you cannot.

As an ex-FedEx driver, I always wondered why TV companies make their boxes with the most vivid and eye-catching colors. There's nothing discrete about it and they're just begging to be stolen. I knew I'd have to put in extra work just because they didnt make their boxes brown

When I do my delivery gigs I always try to do things like this (putting them out of sight if possible, securing things from wind/rain). Pride in a job is important 🥰

It is baffling that people order expensive stuff like with no place to put it out of view when delivered. They can put requests for it to be put in the back if possible, have something on the landing.

Some people are responsible. Some aren’t. My delivery guy left my package on the street next to my mailbox where anyone could have driven by & picked it up. Fortunately I was home & saw him leave it there. Package label clearly states: LEAVE AT BACK DOOR.

Thank GOD I live in SA🇿🇦! If I’m not available to accept my delivery, it gets marked as “failed delivery” & gets rescheduled. Things are never left outside like that. Forget theft, what if it starts raining heavy? Who’s liable for such damages? I’ve seen, this is a norm in 🇺🇸
