Honestly, no Messi fan can actually defend this award. They’ll come up with 1. Ronaldo slander 2. “Where’s your World cup?” 3. He won the Balon D’or 4. He’s the 🐐 As a matter of fact, NOTHING justified him getting the best player award for 2023-24 when he has won nothing.

After the 2022 World Cup, Messi won FIFA THE BEST AWARD in early 2023 for the 2022 calendar year. In 2024 when it was time to give the FIFA THE BEST AWARD for the 2023 calendar year, Messi won it again, a year at which he went to MLS after spending half of that year in PSG with no national team accolade. Apparently Messi won TWO FIFA THE BEST AWARD for two straight years because of one World Cup. As in, they loved him so much they felt he deserved to win the award twice after finally winning the World Cup. Meanwhile Haaland that won a treble with Manchester City in 2023 calendar year after losing Ballon D’or to Messi had to watch Messi win the the FIFA THE BEST AWARD for playing in MLS and doing absolutely nothing. Pathetic stuff. Mind you, these pundits are huge Messi fans but even they were in shock!
