This ma ordered a new fridge for $1000 from Lowe’s. When it was delivered, the delivery men accidentally dented the right stainless steel panel on the door. The fridge still works great, but there are three unsightly dents. He reached out to Lowe’s and they took $500 off of...

@RyanceyReturns I’d put a picture of my kids over it

@_meme_bots @RyanceyReturns I think a calendar with magnets would be a viable option too, very inconspicuous.

@RyanceyReturns I have so much stuff on the fridge like pictures of the kids, their art work, dates for activities, you would barely be able to tell it’s stainless steel 😂.

You ended up with 50% off. And the dents can easily be covered up. I’d be happy with this outcome.

I see the value in getting a thousand dollar appliance for half. But in the long run you will always have to keep it covered up.

@mcucolo57 I would have not even accepted the fridge. You have to see these three dent everytime you go to the fridge. That would be on my mind every time. Mindset > $500 - easy decision.

@mcucolo57 Some people don’t mind though but I do see where it can be irritating like a paint chip on a new car.

Why do they need to replace the fridge? The door comes off. Replace the door.

When accepting an appliance, the delivery person has to show that it is in good order. It clearly isn't. There are dents that can be pulled out easily and then there are caverns like the ones in the post. It should never have been accepted in that condition. Magnets don't stick to the front of stainless steel.

Фото профиля SonnyBoy🇺🇸
SonnyBoy🇺🇸5 месяцев назад

Stainless steel is hard to pull dents from. I think he would just need a new panel altogether which isn’t too hard to do.

Фото профиля Mr Congeniality

@KeoweeSCgal @grok what is the typical cost to replace an entire stainless steel panel on a refrigerator door?

Фото профиля Grok
Grok5 месяцев назад

For a standard consumer stainless steel fridge door panel (like a typical $1k Lowe’s model), the part alone runs $150–$500. Add $100–$250 labor for install—total usually $300–$750 depending on brand/size. High-end built-ins cost more ($800+). The $500 discount in that video was probably the smarter move unless the dents really bug you.

About 6 years ago I went to the dealership and bought my wife a new car. That was on a Friday We were to come back on Monday and pick it up. Monday we showed up to pick up the vehicle and someone had either thrown rocks or spun out in the driveway and shot rocks at the car putting dents in the door. The dealership said no problem give us 3 days and we'll fix it up. I said yes problem I bought a brand new vehicle I did not buy a repaired vehicle or a used vehicle or a damaged vehicle. Order me a new car.

This exact thing happened to us with a Costco fridge but they only offered $200. We declined & made them replace it. What a cluster. Took weeks. When I finally wrote a review on the Costco site they took it down b/c they claimed it wasn't their fault, but the delivery company's fault. But it was Costco I had to deal with, and it was Costco that gave me all the hassles.

Фото профиля SonnyBoy🇺🇸

In all honesty it was their fault but they are liable until you sign that paper saying you got it in good shape and you are happy with it

I had an experience buying a thing from Costco, posted a review after they asked me to post a review, then they took it down b/c they didn't like what I had to say.

I’d cover it with something like a calendar, grocery list, or pictures. Some people prioritize aesthetics, while I prioritize functionality. I wouldn’t have been happy buying it if I had plans to rent or sell the house. I’ll never buy anything too nice for a rental beyond a furnace and water heater because most people will trash everything else.

Jensen Huang on how the first 6 months of NVIDIA was just three guys talking about lunch: "We met every day, the three of us, in one of the founders' townhouse in Fremont and we would get together and there would be nothing to do. What do you do? Three guys get together, you just talk. So what did you guys do last night? What did you have for dinner? We talked about that for about six months." Jensen was 30 years old. Never taken a business class. Never taken a marketing class. As he puts it: "The big event of the day would be—hey, where do you guys want to go for lunch? Philly cheese steak today or Chinese food tomorrow. That would be like a big deal. And then after a while it was like could you put some donuts in the fridge in the morning for when we come. That would be a big deal for a while. That lasted for a few months, just the three of us like that." He continues: "I know it sounds pathetic but it's true. At that time I'm reading books on how to start companies and I'm trying to figure out how to go raise money and what's a venture capitalist and how do you incorporate the company." On incorporating NVIDIA: "I met a lawyer and he says we need some money from you so we could price the shares. He says how much money do you have in your pocket? I said $200. So he says okay give me $200. For $200 I bought 20% of NVIDIA." On the business plan: "I never finished my business plan. We never finished a business plan. Never could figure out how to finish a business plan to tell you the truth. If I would have finished that book and read the whole thing, I would have been dead now. We would have run out of money, ran out of time." What VCs actually invest in: "VCs don't invest in business plans because business plans are easy to write. They invest in great people. The question is—do they trust you? Your reputation matters, your history matters. Your reputation will precede you even if your business plan writing skills are inadequate." Great companies start with great people, not great plans.
