They are great dogs, but they need a lot of training and structure. They are not for everyone who's not willing to spend a lot of time training them. Very high energy dogs - if they don't get to burn it off, they'll destroy things. That's the owners fault.

You definitely would have to match their energy

I’m definitely getting one once I’m able to make time for it. I refuse to use kennels or any of that, so it’ll be a while before I can get one. Best fur missile you’ll ever have.

@perseverare1776 What they don’t tell you is these dogs run away about every 6 weeks on average. They do come back eventually, but chasing is pointless.

@kimrorie8 Me too @BredsguardDalen if I were ten years younger. Had two Rotties over eighteen years fantastic dogs. Mals are in a league of their own. These dogs aren’t meant for the average person. I’m not average and bet you aren’t either.

I own three, and while it all looks good when you’re doing videos, it’s not always so good, I’m currently working a project dog who bit me 14 times on the third day he was here and I’ve been dog training for over 45 years. Here’s my female, she’s a KNPV bread dog, and she will eat you, she civil, she doesn’t care if she bites you in the arm or the butt or the leg, whatever she can reach, she sees you as prey.

I had a Belgian Malinois back in the 80's, smartest dog I've ever had, I was going to get another, then I realized I'm 65 years old now and a dog like that would kill me, I just got an Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog / Border Collie mix and he's almost as bad, high energy, lol.

Belgian Malinois have EXTREMELY high drive. They need to do A LOT of work to be happy. If they don’t get the high-intensity training and work daily for hours they get very anxious and destructive. Mali is a weapon. Not for a casual dog owner… They make excellent military dogs.

There's only one in this whole video that anyone who doesn't know this breed well needs to pay attention to, and that's the one in the fireplace who's resource guarding. They typically have a 195-200 PSI (pounds per square inch) bite. That one in the fireplace would use it.

This is an incredible breed of dog but unless you legitimately can deal with a Velcro dog that needs about 6 hours of high activity exercise a day DON’T GET ONE. My sister adopted 1 from the pound. He is my dog now. At the end of the day the 2 labs are passed out & could care less what I am doing he is still ready to go

Lisa Perreault's profile picture

This is my project dog, imagine being bitten 14 times by this dog and still need him to get him home and under control. He’s come a long way in three months but still wouldn’t trust him around others not in a bite suit. Genetics plays a big role, sure there are some soft miles out there, and there are people breeding them out of standard to be softer, but that’s not what they’re supposed to be. Some dogs only want to do the first part of the prey sequence but other dogs, often in this breed, want to complete the sequence, it’s who they are.
