Always have to vet charities just for this reason and why I only give to St Jude.

I volunteered a lot as a young man, jades you, I refuse to give a dime to a charity. Happy to help someone in need but I will not give money to a charity or fund raiser ever, period.

This is all non-profits, charities and research funds. All of them. Some may have started with good intentions but greed always wins.

Charities and non profits are nothing but tax evasion rackets for rich people who also want to look good. There are a few that are legitimate but they're rare.

That’s why I find it so hard to donate to these “charities”. We donate to our church instead and at least keep the money in our community.

I give to a short list but do my research: Samaritan’s Purse, IOCC (Orthodox), Gary Sinise Foundation and some local charities. Even then I keep checking.

This charity model has been the norm since I was a kid, 75 years ago. I was forced to give to the United Way in the U.S. Army, or report to the Mess Hall for KP duty.

I agree. Always do research on charities before donating. I never give to organizations with tables set up outside stores either. If I really want to give to them I can go home, research, and give online. T2T is legit btw.

There is a reason charities never solve the essential problem.

My beef is when a charity uses the term 'awareness' to take money. We have an entire month for "Breast Cancer Awareness" where millions are raised for more 'awareness' it's a self-perpetuating money grab where 99% of the money goes to corporate executives salaries. If there is an adult person alive that doesn't know breast cancer is a bad thing, trot them out for us to see.
