I was in the UK last month and went to the Costco food court and ordered a tuna and beans jacketed potato thinking that seemed the most British, but sounded awful. Well, it turned out to be pretty good, and I made a bunch of them now that I am back in the US.

What cracks me up is the idea that so many non-Americans have that EVERY American does this or that. People, we're like 20 different countries in one. Things we do in the Midwest people in the south or the west would never dream of doing and vice versa.

The English are world famous for traveling the world looking for spices, and then they refuse to use them.

And midwesterners have been doing this since they discovered baked potatoes. They put meatloaf or barbecue, chicken & dumplings, or any other kind of meat. Being raised in the west, I was taken aback but it is efficient.

Nope. Americans put lots of things w/baked potato, including chili & bbq. I’ve even had one w/broccoli & carrots, along w/ the usual cheese & sour cream that was quite tasty. But tuna salad & ketchup? Nah. That’s just wrong on every level.

I am an American who used to work in London at a restaurant that only served baked potatoes - Spud-U-Like. This gal is not wrong. Baked potatoes as a main course is just fine and there ain’t nothing wrong with tuna on a spud (though I prefer cottage cheese)! 🥔

The lass was doing great until the ketchup - that’s wrong, and too much butter, but the tuna mayo rocks. I personally like to put some cornichons or capers in the mayo, but spring onions are fine.

American potato bars include lots of toppings for baked potatoes. I used to patronize one in Detroit named the Potato Peddler. They had huge 🥔 with lots of various toppings to choose from. Potatoes was the whole business…maybe a side of the soup of the day.

Why do people keep acting like we don’t have full on restaurants just for baked potatoes. We literally have baked potato soup. Im not saying we invented these thigs but stop acting like we dont have potatoes at the forefront of our meals.

Stuffed potatoes are honestly an underrated dish. Relatively fast, easy and delicious. I do them regularly, though not like this.
