This Man entered Amsterdam airport In 2016 and technically never stopped working till now. The man is a recording. Dutch designer Maarten Baas filmed a performer for 12 full hours behind a translucent screen, erasing and repainting the minute hand with a roller every minute.

my favorite part of this clock is not being able to tell the time for 30 seconds every minute as the guy redraws the line.

the one in rotterdam at the hospital is rad too. They sweep trash instead of paint.

Did you know that many of today's young adults cannot read analog clock faces? They are temporally illiterate.

At Design Miami they had an artist/vendor who had a bunch of these clocks. Some were really cool.

Just like Metropolis. Disturbing.

Yea it's pretty dumb but I personally love the Flintstone vibe

fake video, its projected on the screen

Bro living that Disney life.

My favorite thing at Schoepel. I check on him every time I’m there. Still ticking

yeah at 20.00pm you can see him smoking weed

I saw that clock a few times while passing through the airport. It's da bomb smart design. Very, very cool to see it in person.

Peter Gabriel used the same or similar clips on his last Tour. It went on and on before the Concert starts.

who is maarten baas and how did he film this guy for 12 hours straight?

Repainting the minute hand with a roller every minute for twelve full hours is intense.

Hay uno igual a 11.200 kilómetros. En el mercado de Tafí Viejo. Lo instaló Bamboo Media Art y es único en Sudamérica.

That’s fuckin stupid

This clock is a giant optical illusion that has been messing with travelers' brains for a decade. It's brilliant.

Might be the craziest manual clock to ever exist

Poor guy works around the clock.

Let’s add the worst music possible

Reminds me of this

Instead of making a video of him doing that lol

Amazing

I was there in 2016. I remember looking up to see the time and doing a double take. Watching it passes the time.

这工作枯燥。

That's what the wall clock on Platform 9¾ looks like

This is such clever public art. The fact that it's a looped recording of someone genuinely painting the clock by hand for 12 hours makes the passage of time feel strangely human and alive, rather than just mechanical. Maarten Baas nailed it.

That is an absolute masterpiece of performance art. Imagine the sheer dedication it took to paint and erase every single minute for twelve straight hours.

That is actually kind of annoying.

imagine clocking in just to become the clock

Wow he performed this before a Peter Gabriel concert during I believe the last 20 minutes before the show started

Imagine he repainted the line incorrectly after filming for 11+ hours

That's brilliantly clever , the way Baas turns timekeeping into performance art is genius. Love spotting this every time I pass through Schiphol.
