This is completely false. Modern, computer- controlled engines, even back to the 90’s, only run a slightly rich mixture for about 15 seconds or so. Having warm oil, fully shaped pistons and proper warm clearances will result in less engine wear when you actually accelerate.

You can test this yourself. Pull your valve covers off and start the car on a sub temp day. Watch how long it takes for oil to travel. It takes a bit. You can drive your car like that but its not lubricated like it would be if you warmed it up for 5 to 10 minutes.

While the fuel is coming in at a richer mixture for warmup efficiency, think oil is being moved right back into the cylinder. Not warm thin oil, thick sticky stuff until it warms up. The fuel is going to have a hard time washing that off.

The company branched out and began constructing mechanical appliances such as pumps and engines. In 1888, Delahaye designed an internal combustion engine for the shipping industry.
