Every police officer should be required to carry a personal insurance policy that covers the cost of lawsuits like these. Taxpayers should not be covering the costs when police violate civil rights. See how eager they are to go on a power trip when their premiums triple.

Accountability matters. If officers repeatedly violate people’s rights, there should be consequences that don’t automatically fall on taxpayers.

I seriously hope someday to have law enforcement that actually DOES hold each other accountable in real time. They don't. So, who are the good ones? We have LEOs all through #Texas that don't know law or 5th grade civics.

Good cops don’t stay silent when bad cops break the law. Accountability starts at the scene, not years later in a courtroom. Until that becomes the standard, public trust will keep eroding.

@USArmySFC_1 My parents were cops,Good cops don't say shit or they are ruined, you know nothing

@USArmySFC_1 Having parents who were cops gives you a valuable perspective, but it doesn’t mean every criticism of police is uninformed. Good officers can face real pressure, and accountability matters too.

So wait I’m British and Have I just seen what I think I have just seen? DUMB ARROGANT EGOCENTRIC AMERICAN COPS arresting an innocent guy for NOT COMMITTING a crime? Seriously?!?! I thought the American police were 100 hundred levels BETTER than the @BritishPoliceUK and @metpoliceuk but obviously the American police are just as BAD IF NOT WORSE than @BritishPoliceUK And the video I have just watched has TOTALLY changed my mind about my upcoming holiday to the States. I was looking forward to it but after seeing this video I think I’ll cancel

Don’t judge 330+ million Americans and hundreds of thousands of police officers by one viral video. If the officers broke the law, they should be held accountable—but one incident isn’t the whole country. Come visit, enjoy your holiday, and judge America by your own experience, not by a single clip.

How is that female cop gonna explain when she doesn’t know the law🤔

Actions have consequences. She’ll learn.

“I’ve been waiting for this”🤣🤣

Brr has been hunting 😂😂

Right? It's like a citizen lottery with a variable prize amount provided by all of us TAXpayers, and the possible winner just has to be following the law and not aide OR abed the lottery servant's illegal demands in order to qualify for a payout! Be a stand up citizen an get PAID

Know your rights. Stand your ground, stay within the law, and let accountability do the rest

What's the fat redheaded cops responsibility on this traffic stop? Is he just the enforcer for the dumb woman cop that doesn't know the law?

I hope they get sued after this!

Calling Bullshit on winning huge lawsuit. Name the case . They can demand ID of an operator of a vehicle for an investigation. Please do not listen to have half these bullshit videoed

Another lawsuit

Straight up😂

Winning or losing a lawsuit doesn’t change the fact that officers are expected to know the law they’re enforcing. Professionalism starts with understanding the limits of your authority.

The male cop know they are fukd 😂

His reaction say it all 😂😂😂

Wives watch and learn, we need more George’s in the world.

He's not going to sue anyone.

You sure about that?

Boom, got them. Easy money. These tyrant think they can demand shit without knowing the law.

Keep fighting back

That young man with the glasses should be fired

Lmao

I don't know what makes you idiots so certain Mr. Melendez is due a windfall of millions. Lawyer here. I'm guessing he gets nothing. Apparently, the situation was that he was called in as the suspect in a road rage incident. That's reasonable suspicion.

And the tax payers loose again

Get that money bro. Love it.

I have a 9th grade education I know more of the constitution than these tyrants or they know and don't care

The Constitution isn’t complicated. If someone with a 9th-grade education can understand it, there’s no excuse for public officials sworn to uphold it not to.

I need to know what led up to the traffic stop. Constitutionally, if he was pulled over for a violation he must produce an ID. Absence of a traffic violation, a crime must be suspected to demand an ID.

I wonder how much he won in the lawsuit.

RAAAAAAAIDERS…..!!!!!!

Wish to see the follow ups of these situations and there cost to the state / taxpayers

@grok did he win the lawsuit? Who is this guy? Do you have the full story of this?

#police = #ACAB 1312 #Schutzstaffel #Stabswache #Sturmabteilung #Gestapo

Arrogant manipulative piece of shit cops I’m so sick of them all

This is why AI will take over the law enforcement.

😂😂😂 he said I been watching these videos and I been waiting on this to happen lol. Fam don hit a lick.

The video starts late and he doesn’t let the cops talk BUT if cops observed a traffic infraction they CANT GIVE THE SUMMONS to someone who doesn’t ID himself! A summons is in lieu of arrest This “obstructing an investigation” is nonsense though

The traffic violation and the obstruction charge are two separate issues. One doesn’t automatically justify the other.

Well, it’s subsequent but unnecessary A driver who refuses to ID for a traffic. Infraction must be arrested for that infraction (summons is in lieu of arrest) Think of a person with an active warrant pulled over for a traffic infraction who refuses to ID What then? Arrest

He sued and won big time !!!!

I love my Mexican brothers

What did he do?😐

So, The man is George Melendez. 2023 Royse City, TX. He was briefly detained. A supervisor arrived, confirmed no probable cause, and released him immediately, with no charges. He discussed suing but no major public settlement or judgment details exist.
