This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think a Kevin O’Leary type person, might be good for the Canadian political scene. There is no reason, for Canada’s economic outlook to be as bleak as it is. We can point fingers at other nations, but most of this comes back to the shear incompetency that’s been on display, courtesy of our liberal government, both past and present.

@MarkJCarney didn’t have to be dumb enough to allow a retroactive tax to proceed in the middle of negotiations. Wasn’t he supposed to be some sort of genius? Guess not so much. Oh well.

This is a self-inflicted mess. When a major bourbon producer shuts down for a year, that’s not the market talking, that’s politics getting in the way of common sense. The LCBO, one of the largest buyers of American liquor in the world, has effectively shut U.S. products out. You can’t even buy American wine right now in Ontario, so shelves get filled with French bottles and Japanese whisky instead. That’s real demand, and real revenue, being handed to everyone else. Canada and the U.S. should be inseparable trading partners. Canada has the resources America needs, America has the largest consumer market Canada relies on. Playing tariff games between neighbors is stupid and completely unnecessary. There shouldn’t be tariffs between allies. This hurts businesses on both sides of the border.

Mark Carney nuked our trade talks with the U.S. Approved an attack ad on Trump. Then had to apologize for it. Now the U.S. won’t even negotiate with Canada. This is the guy who campaigned as the only one who could work with Trump. He’s done nothing except sabotage the relationship. Now he’s spending half a trillion to fix his own mess. We have just been slaughtered with bad management. It's, it's so depressing to look at the numbers. They don't lie. This isn't emotional. We actually only grew 1.4% in a decade. Not per year, in the whole decade. No one has ever done that, ever before, to Canada. Why would anybody want more of that? I just don't understand it. Trudeau is an empty suit. He was the idiot king. It's so unfortunate for Canada. Butts did all the policy, along with Telfer. And so they're still there. Butts is hell-bent on turning Canada into a green utopia. No energy, no pipelines, no development of resources. I don't see Canada surviving as an economy with these policies amped up. Daniela Cambone-Taub

I don’t believe the U.S. Canada trade war is built to last. America needs critical resources like uranium and potash, and Canada needs stable access to the U.S. market. Long term, these economies are too strategically connected to stay divided by tariffs. The real outcome should be deeper economic cooperation, not pushing Canada closer to China.

Because losing Canada is intolerable to U.S. national security. Now Carney is forming a strategic partnership with communist China, a declared enemy of the U.S. That puts NORAD and Five Eyes at risk. This has to be reevaluated now.

Polish Ambassador Witold Dzielski is 100% right. Europe needs Canada’s LNG. Justin Trudeau once said there was “no business case” for exporting Canadian energy to Europe. Now Americans are cashing in and Canada is left behind. This is just one example of a global market that could benefit greatly from Canada and Alberta’s energy. Prime Minister Mark Carney needs to immediately repeal or significantly amend the Liberals bad legislation including Bill C-69 (the No More Pipelines Act), the oil and gas production cap, and the tanker ban so that we can get Alberta energy products around the world and create jobs and wealth for all Canadians.
