Design should be intuitive and self-explanatory. This is bad design because there is no reason to reinvent the wheel. Anyone who fixes things for a living knows this trend is getting worse. We are overcomplicating things for no reason.

My exwife has the same fridge. It’s not that difficult. Trust me. Put something in there you want to keep your 2 year old granddaughter away from and she’ll open it in 5 seconds.
