Most crashes (~90%) happen when a plane is taking off or landing. That’s not enough time to deploy and the height is not enough to make this work

Again, this is not feasible because of the additional weight. The purpose of commercial airline is to carry as many passenger as possible.
Most plane crashes occur during takeoff and landing so i dont think this will be really effective unless the crash is happening midair
