UPDATE - THREE ALARM FIRE The San Francisco Fire Department is currently managing a three-alarm structure fire, deploying over 100 firefighters along with various fire apparatus at the scene. We have shifted from an offensive attack to a transitional approach and are now executing a defensive fire attack. This strategy involves utilizing large water hoses from aerial ladder trucks as well as from the ground to extinguish the flames. At this time, there are no reported injuries related to this fire. We still have a shelter-in-place order for the immediate area, which remains unchanged. If you are in the affected area and would like updates from the City and County of San Francisco, please text your ZIP code to 888777.

Firefighters and made a quick and aggressive attack on this fire with multiple engines, one of our handcrews, and coordinated water drops by our Firehawk helicopters. This evening, Metro Fire, Cosumnes Fire, and Sacramento Fire proudly deployed Strike Team 4801-C to the Palisades Fire in Southern California. 4801-C consists of 22 firefighters staffing five Type 1 engines, and one strike team vehicle. This deployment showcases the strength and resilience of the California Master Mutual Aid Agreement, and highlights the importance of emergency resource sharing statewide. Fire season is now year-round, and the ability to support the mission of saving lives and protecting property throughout our state has never been more critical. The crowd cheered on as fire fighters made sure they contained the fire from razing the building to the ground and ultimately spreading to nearby buildings. Just before 12:30 Monday afternoon, the FDNY responded to a 4-alarm fire at 44-49 College Point Boulevard in Queens. Tragically, four people lost their lives in this fire. Two other victims were transported to area hospitals in critical condition. During operations, a stairwell collapsed, trapping two of our members. They were transported to area hospitals in stable condition. More than 230 firefighters and EMS personnel responded. “This is a difficult and tragic day. There were several victims in this fire. The Fire Department did an extraordinary job under difficult circumstances, putting this fire out and saving people. I can't thank them enough for their continued efforts and commitment to life safety,” said Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore. “Upon arrival, we had heavy fire on all three floors of this building. There was a victim trapped on the second floor, which our members removed with a portable ladder. As our engine companies were moving in from the first floor and up the stairs to the second floor, the stairs collapsed, and those two members were trapped in the stairs. With additional help, we were able to extricate those members. As all that is happening, other members are performing CPR on the victims in the street,” said Chief of Fire Operations Kevin Woods. The fire was placed under control just before 2:45 p.m. FDNY Fire Marshals are working to determine the cause of the fire.

ADO1 Alex King Nartey from the public relations department of the Ghana National Fire Service has shared footage capturing the response of some members of the public to the siren of a fire tender responding to a fire outbreak at Spintex this morning. He lamented what he described as a lack of urgency from motorists and pedestrians in making way during such emergency situations. The team, dispatched from the GNFS Headquarters in Cantonments, however managed to arrive at the scene and successfully brought the fire under control.

Make your own arrangements, Fire hoses, huge overhead water tanks & plenty of Fire extinguishers alone can save you. You only get a few minutes to end a fire before it becomes uncontrollable. And it takes time for the fire trucks to arrive and setup; and most of the time it’s too late.
