It's 10 hours later and the standoff in Kiev between SBU (Ukrainian secret police, internal security agency) and GUR (military intelligence/JSOC) is still hot. There have been multiple firefights throughout the night and morning. At least one dead and two injured are being reported -- all GUR. Though there is no official confirmation, it is being widely reported that the background is that the SBU kidnapped Stepan Kalpunov, one of the commanders of the so-called "Russian Volunteer Corps" (a small media/military unit consisting of exiled Russian neo-Nazis), for unknown reasons and GUR attempted to free him (as the RDK is officially a military unit attached to GUR). The SBU tried to downplay the whole thing by issuing a statement claiming that the whole thing is a "joint operation" between SBU and GUR trying to save Kalpunov (only naming him as a "Russian opposition leader") from a Russian assassination attempt. Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Defcon Tribe 🔱🏴‍☠️ ❗️Kyrylo Budanov inspects positions on Zmiinyi Island and gas production platforms in the Black Sea The Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR), Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, inspected the positions of the “Special Unit of Timur” fighters on Zmiinyi Island and the gas production platforms in the Black Sea. ▪️The head of Military Intelligence inspected the forces and assets involved in the defense of the waters, including the so-called “rigs” that, as a result of successful operations by the HUR and other components of the Security and Defense Forces, were returned to the legal control of Ukraine. During his trip to the Black Sea region, Kyrylo Budanov held a meeting with officers to discuss further actions within the overall strategy, and also presented awards to the HUR fighters from the “Special Unit of Timur” for their professionalism and bravery in defending our state during the war with Russia in the Black Sea. ▪️Together, they honored the memory of the soldiers who fell during the liberation of Zmiinyi Island and the Ukrainian territorial waters of the Black Sea from Russian occupiers. “Honor to the HUR fighters and all of Ukraine’s Security and Defense Forces! Our effective fight against the aggressor at sea, on land, and in the sky has proven to the whole world that a united Ukrainian nation can overcome even a stronger enemy.
