@Mlu__N2 I’ll never turn my back on any of my children. So your uppity house is now good enough to parade her remains in but not her while alive. This is my own tough love to you.

Anyone commenting that this mother did the wrong thing doesn’t understand addiction at all. There is no amount of love, support, motivation, money that can save an addict. They must save themselves. You can support them when they make good choices and remain no judgmental, you can help them get treatment if they seek it, but that’s it. In fact, often it is unconditional support and “love”, AKA codependency and enabling that creates this situation to begin with. I’ve been clean since 2011 and the best thing my mother ever did was to cut me off completely. And then one day when she saw I had no fight left, she took me to detox for the last time. I wanted to go. I wanted to live.

@Mlu__N2 Reading these comments..😡 Some people have NO realistic understanding of addiction. Second guessing this mother's choice is sad, cruel, and wrong. Above all else, the addict must decide to stop. Overdose can happen with any usage and could have in the guest house. 🙏for mom.💔

@Mlu__N2 It’s hard to understand her situation and be empathetic unless you’ve also loved and lost someone who was an addict.

I think this is hard to relate to if you haven’t had a family member embroiled in the throes of active addiction. A lot of addicts are trying to bury/numb something very traumatic and painful that happened to them. They will mar the trust of their family and loved ones, steal, lie, sometimes getting abusive or violent. They’ll do illegal things in your home, trash your space. Mom here will undoubtedly catch a lot of flack for dropping daughter off and having an addict daughter in the first place - but I can’t imagine being in either of their shoes, that’s sad. It’s a sad way to go, and a sad loss.

We had to do this with our son…. Tough love. Absolutely the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Thankfully for us and his hard work the outcome was successful. He just celebrated 16yrs sober. He thanks us for staying strong and says had we not he’d probably still be dealing with addiction. Our relationship is closer than ever and there’s nothing he can ever do that will make me prouder than his sobriety. God bless all those dealing with addiction and their families suffering along with them.

@Mlu__N2 I feel bad she lost her daughter but how stupid is it to leave her at a gas station knowing she’s an addict and still in a vulnerable state to make irrational decisions? “I went back a couple hours later and we couldn’t find her.” Umm…yeah no shit? Not a smart move at all.

@Mlu__N2 You can not save someone from theirselves, you can let them destroy you trying or you do what she did, I pray to God I never have to make that choice.

@Mlu__N2 I think parents are responsible almost always for kids becoming adicts. After mostly being abandoned by self absorbed unloving parents! Who care more about vacation plans and their life’s after an entire life of being dumped off as the problem the one last time happens?

@Mlu__N2 I’m 21 years sober. People who have lost loved ones to addiction are so happy for me when I tell them I am a sober alcoholic. Listening to their grief and loss makes me understand why. It always touches me when they are delighted at my sobriety.

@Mlu__N2 I have a niece currently living under a bridge. All family has tried for 20 years to get her help, you can’t just let them come home. I can’t imagine my sisters pain waiting for the call…

@Mlu__N2 I realize they're just ashes but how you show respect for someone after they're gone shows how you respected them in life. Couldn't even cough up a few bucks for a vase. Just leave her in a cardboard box. Pathetic.

@Mlu__N2 Tough love isn’t called “tough” for no reason. Mama could’ve continued to enable her drug abuse, or set boundaries as she did. Boundaries are healthy, but this world is full of evil people. I feel so bad for this mama. I hope she knows it’s NOT her fault. Prayers for peavey. 🙏

@Mlu__N2 families of addicts think being a harass and not lending kind help is THE plan for ALL addicts; for some it is, but others need to be shown their loved.Being a hardass/cold is why her daughter is dead. Just a fact. Everyone is different…love/empathy is never bad choice

We have a serious drug addiction problem in this country but no easy/affordable good long term recovery programs. It's sad. We turn a blind eye. Makes me sick to think about all the fraud for non existent care facilities that we could use for actual treatment centers. Addiction is not something you treat for a week or two. Long term help is required. Once the addict is sober they need help with re-entry into society. And jail is certainly NOT the answer.

@Mlu__N2 Judging this woman choice is crazy to me. That lady made the choice is deem necessary at the moment.

This is why my kid can always come home no matter what, doesn’t matter how old they are or what they’re going through.. Whatever it is, we can get through it together… Because that’s what family is supposed to do. I’d do anything I can to not become a cautionary tale like this woman and her daughter… Sad.

@Mlu__N2 All these comments saying this lady made the wrong choice isn’t crazy. The same people have never had family who is an addict. When you have to live with an addict it’s tiresome and frustrating. You can do everything in your power to help. They still want their highnomatterwhat.

@Mlu__N2 As a recovering addict and someone that works in recovery you can talk to the addict but they have to be tired of being on bottom they ultimately have to want to be sober. And fuck a lot of you blaming the mom and dad. I hope you have to deal with an addict

@Mlu__N2 Yeah... I don't know why but I'm highly suspicious on the Last part of the Testimony. "Before she died she contacted me. Told me I know you are Right. I'm thankful for All you've done for me. I love you." The perfect scenario to push guilt away from her and judge her actions.

@Mlu__N2 The cruelty of these comments are shocking though they shouldn’t be due to the coldness of this world. Until you’ve walked in her shoes there should be no judging. Her goal was for her daughter to be clean. Letting an addict squat, family or not is nothing but drama and chaos.
