@imarathonug You do your best in supporting this church founded hospitals, but when it comes to the cost of their services they forget that they are also needy.

#Afghanistan has one of the world’s highest maternal mortality rates, while too many women and girls continue to face barriers to healthcare. Frontline health workers are supporting mothers and newborns, but they need more support, and these services must be expanded.

This morning I found my DM full of messages about what I said of Bad Black. I stand by every word of it. And here is some more. She is one of the most experienced mothers to give voice to the cause of saving mothers that die in child birth. That is why I sent KASUKU to ask her to join us in the Independence Marathon on Sunday October 4th to #SaveAMother. If she can be part of such a noble cause, where are you?

The US has the highest maternal mortality of any developed country … and it’s about to get a lot worse. Why? Pregnant women are afraid to go to the hospital for care. They’re labouring at home alone because ICE will grab them as soon as they give birth. This is dystopian.

Mental illness is the leading cause of maternal deaths, affecting families in Michigan and across our country. This Black Maternal Mental Health Week is about action. As the Chair of the Congressional Mamas' Caucus, I will continue pushing to create a healthcare system that centers the dignity of all our mothers.

Sen. Dr. Roger Marshall on the number one cause of maternal mortality in America: “When you measure maternal mortality… the number one cause now is suicide and fentanyl overdose. That means after the baby’s delivered, the delivery’s not over. We have to hang on to that patient and figure out what’s going on in their personal life as well.” Learn more about the summit: #TheHillHealth #MaternalHealth #MentalHealth #FentanylCrisis #PostpartumCare #HealthPolicy

A baby’s first birthday shouldn’t be a privilege. Many infant deaths can be prevented through access to quality healthcare, safe delivery, vaccines, and maternal support. I’ll be joining the Her Baby Box charity match on May 27th 💜⚽️ to create awareness about infant mortality. Come through and let’s make impact together 🙏🏽

Maternal Mortality is awfully high in this country and we are losing too many lives despite recent progress. We will continue to lend our voices and push for action until we see a drastic and sustained reduction in maternal deaths in our hospitals. No woman should lose her life while giving life. #WeAreAllInvoled #ReduceMarternalMortality

🔴Zimbabwe is facing a severe maternal mortality crisis, with a staggering 960 deaths per 100 000 live births. In January 2025 alone, about 300 infants and 54 women died during excrutiating childbirths. This is three times higher than the global average and almost double the Sub-Saharan Africa average. The main causes of maternal deaths in are pregnancy-induced hypertension, postpartum hemorrhage, puerperal sepsis, malaria, and obstructed labour. HIV and Aids-related conditions also contribute to a significant number of maternal deaths, accounting for 25% of all maternal mortality. One of the major challenges is the lack of access to skilled care during childbirth. Only 66% of births are assisted by a skilled provider, while 13% are assisted by traditional birth attendants or untrained relatives and friends. A staggering 3% of births are unassisted. To address this crisis, the Zimbabwean government and international partners have launched initiatives to revitalise Maternity Waiting Homes (MWHs). MWHs provide accommodation for high-risk pregnant women near health facilities, reducing maternal and neonatal mortality by increasing access to skilled care. Zimbabwe's health system, like everything else, has collapsed due to leadership, governance and policy failures.
