I Return to Jama Masjid After Month-Long Restrictions Condemn Brutal Killings, Pay Tribute to Victims and Rescuers Urge Safety for Kashmiris, Denounce Media Vilification Today, after more than one month, authorities allowed me to come to Jama Masjid. Repeatedly, I am barred from delivering the Friday sermon and offering prayers here, which, while being condemnable, is cruel to me and all those who come here to listen to the sermon, and to all Muslims of the valley who are deeply upset by such measures. I once again ask the authorities to desist from pursuing the approach of bans and bars. Sadly, during this time, we had to witness a terrifying incident which has left our hearts bleeding. The manner in which a carnage was carried out—more than two dozen people killed after ascertaining their identities and in front of their families—is shocking and chilling beyond belief. We strongly condemn it. Who better can understand the pain and grief of loss to the families of those affected than a people who have suffered it for decades and still continue to. Today, as I say this, as per the Islamic calendar, it is the 36th martyrdom anniversary of my father, Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq, and seventy others who lost their lives on this tragic day. Our hearts go out to these families who will never see their loved ones again, and our prayers are with them. We also pray for the speedy recovery of those injured. Kashmiris have always opened their hearts and homes to outsiders, especially tourists. Known for our hospitality to visitors, people of Kashmir once again upheld the tradition of outreach, help, and humanity in this distressing time. Being left helpless, locals helped those at the spot to flee, even at the risk to their own lives, in which pony operator Adil Hussain lost his life. We pay homage to this brave young Kashmiri who gave the ultimate sacrifice of life while saving that of others. Others rushed the injured, some even on their backs, trekking miles to hospitals. Kashmiris, in every manner, reached out to help the distressed tourists, as can be seen in videos where tourists are thanking them for opening up their homes to them, giving them food and free taxi rides to airports and other destinations, and even providing emotional support. People observed a complete shutdown, held spontaneous and silent protests, and candlelight vigils in memory of those killed in this horrific manner. The people of Kashmir send a strong message of their total disapproval of such actions and their solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved by standing shoulder to shoulder with them. Yet a large section of mainstream media, with its communal rhetoric of hate directed against Kashmiris, has made Kashmiris across India vulnerable, forcing hundreds to leave cities and towns, especially the students, causing great distress to their families and to all of us. I appeal to the concerned governments in different states of India to ensure the safety of our students and all other Kashmiris. I also ask the authorities to allow me to visit the injured in hospitals and to the house of Adil Hussain to pay my condolences to the family of this brave heart. Prior to prayers, in solidarity with the bereaved families, we will observe one minute of silence.

Father God, I thank you for everyone here. I pray that you would give each person here in this audience, clarity of mind, clear thoughts. That you would speak to them in their hearts and minds to, prepare them. That you would, fill them up where they aren’t full, where they are full, that you would give them perfect opportunities that suit your will to be a blessing so that you may increase their blessing, that you may refill their blessing. Make their glasses bigger to receive the blessing that you have for them, Father God. And give them clarity of mind and purpose to be a blessing to all around them. Blessings for healing, blessings for prosperity, so that in the midst of the storm, those around them will be able to be fed and cared for, and to know your presence, your peace, your way. We pray for all those warriors of truth, that they would, be encouraged and strengthened in their soul to proceed forward apace in this dark moment, and the dark moments ahead. That as we go through this near-death experience as a country, that it will go, we will go through it and, and prevail by faith, and that you would increase all of our faith through faithfulness to do your will, Father God. That we would come through this storm, this group specifically, as shining like the noonday sun, that your presence would shine brightly through each person here out into the country, and that we would dispel the darkness in souls, in actions, in justice, in lawfulness. That we will, push out the darkness that has, that has clouded our land, and those principalities, those powers of darkness in high places would be purged from the land by the light of your presence in your people doing your will, your way, Father God. I refuse to engage in any twitter spats or back and forths or scoop so low to them, I categorically don’t engage in twitter storms. I will release a 3 hour podcast that was recorded last Saturday before any of these controversies came about dealing with this narrow minded thought process and misunderstood way of the “salaf” on issues that are open for discussion & ijtihaad. There is clearly a witch hunt on by some of the extremists who are burning to see thousands attending the gatherings. I refuse to give in, and inshallah that podcast will put some of these issues to bed once and for all, issues that have destroyed communities and brotherhood, issues that have turned loved ones against one another, issues that have destroyed marriages, and then we will see who is truly following Islam accordingly and the way of the “salaf” and the major scholars of this era and the past. May Allah bless all those well mannered brothers & sisters who always verify and have good thoughts of their Ustadhs. Sri Amit Shah Ji Having worked with you for sometime in Central Govt, I can vouchsafe that out of all the top leaders in the Central Govt you are the most Hindu-minded. I have publicly congratulated you for your bold actions on Article 370 & CAA. Yet, in the last 9+ years of BJP rule in the Centre, public celebration of Hindu festivals are being banned and criminalised directly or by resorting to various subterfuges including through court orders. What kind of #Hindutva is this Sir, that your Governments at Centre and in States violate with impunity Article 25 of Constitution which gives fundamental right of freedom to profess and practice religion by public celebration of Hindu festivals by banning them on the specious ground of public order? Is that action of denial of fundamental right of Hindus on that spurious ground, not an admission of the utter failure and incompetence of your BJP Central and State Governments to maintain public order? By continuous denial of rights of Hindus for years to publicly celebrate their festivals, are your Central and State Governments not normalising their criminal negligence and utter incompetence in not upholding the Constitution? If this is not breakdown of constitutional governance, then what else could it be?
