This OLED monitor is literally printed using ink 😲, which could eventually make OLED displays much cheaper. MSI has showcased the world's first 27” 4K 120Hz inkjet-printed OLED monitor at #gamescom2026, featuring an RGB-stripe panel from TCL CSOT. Here's why it matters 👇

You know, I don’t think the person who invented inkjet printers fully understood the future implications of what they created. Now being used in 3-D printing and additive manufacturing. I hope they had a pattern that they’re getting paid all this money for or maybe they open sourced it.. That is one invention that has really changed the world and it’s very understated

Great to see innovation in monitor production. I hope it brings lower prices instead of higher profit margins. Also, will be interesting to see your detailed review of the monitor when it arrives in the market.

Lower production cost = higher profits!!! Not lower retail prices.

Can it print 300 dpi? I really want a retina 27 inch OLED which is at least 5k

That's the PRO MAX OLED 271UPJW12 model btw. Now all MSI has to do, is release an actual inkjet printer that works.

U forgot capitalism, no matter how cheap it gets to manufacture, if one company has the patent they control the supply hence tighten to make the price higher, more profit less stress. Thats how we roll 2026 until the chinese steal the technique

TCL needs to start using this tech in their TVs instead of giving 10 thousand nits of useless Brightness and horrible motion handling

So the main advantage is actually that we're using three different materials for the three colors instead of just one material and a color filter, right? Wasn't a big disadvantage of that that the different materials degrade at different speeds?

In the mean time LG Display has switch to lithography for OLED

They'll just raise the price of the ink chemicals, until it forces everyone to go back to the old ways.

Is this the same tech, or the same production line, as the closed JOLED factory?

Fifteen years of panel reviews and this is the shift worth marking. OLED from a printer instead of a vacuum chamber changes the cost curve, but the deeper change is form. Evaporated OLED needs glass and metal masks. Printed OLED needs a surface. We print flexible OLED near Berlin for surfaces no monitor will ever cover: packaging, medical devices, textiles. The monitor is the first place printing replaces evaporation where screens already exist. The bigger story is where screens never existed at all.

We get cheaper ink jet printed OLED monitors than actual Epson/HP/Canon ink jet cartridges ... Insane world we live in.

Nice technology, but very expensive for a small 27" with Delta E < 2, which translates to poorer factory color calibration. For the price, it should have at least Delta E < 1.

Only problem is the ink will fade quicker than regular monitors. In direct sunlight its DOA & warranty will not cover this.
