The Drake/Kendrick was strange to experience as a Toronto artist. On one hand, Drake is me, he’s from my city. When I see him, I see what’s possible. I see myself. But on the other hand… not a like. Not a follow. No acknowledgment. I linked with Ye before I ever heard a word from him. And we’re from the same city. Even The Weeknd I wouldn’t have met if it weren’t for Ye in Calabasas, and his building was next to mine, same block in Toronto. Toronto is just like that. That puts allegiance in a weird place.
