Scarface is widely regarded as a classic today, but when it first came out, the reception was brutal. Steven Bauer, who played Manny, says it was so painful that for years he and Al Pacino barely even spoke about the film. He explains… “Scarface is great to be a part of now. For years, it was dismal - like everybody associated with Scarface was a leper - people got very wimpy about Scarface really quickly. As soon as the reviews were out… Our peers came to see the movie in the premiere, right? There were two premieres, one in New York, one in LA, and people came to see it and they were like, ‘Wow, what a movie…. The next day, the reviews are out, and all the papers — this is before the internet, okay? - so you get just the conventional news media outlets - and 90% of them gave Scarface a horrible review. Like horrible, really, really insulting, injurious stuff. Personal attacks on Pacino and Brian De Palma, the director, and on Oliver, the writer... It was really, really mean because the country was going through a politically correct sort of thing - they were like, "This is like a new wave of violence in the movies, oh!" It’s nice because when I see Al - we can finally talk about it, because...for years, we couldn’t even talk about it. We’d be like, “Oh yeah, Scarface, yeah, yeah...” It was so sad! Because the movie was so great! And then it was like this thud, and it lasted like 10 years… Anywhere I’d go, it was like, ‘You’re that guy who was really good in that really terrible movie.’ And I’d be like, ‘How could you say that?’ And they’d go, ‘Well, you were good.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, but I don’t care. What about the movie?’ And they go, ‘Oh, come on, you gotta admit it. It was like way over the top. It was like so exaggerating,’ blah, blah, blah, blah.…and I’d be like, ‘You’re a pussy!”

👤i thought that story was really cute…that you kissed each other to catch the flu 👤 this really feels like ‘divorce camp’ (*tv show); how did this come about? 🐰 it was probably right before the debut line up was decided, right? 🦊 yeah 🐰 it was the end of the year and it was a hard time for all the trainees…nobody could sleep or eat…and the flu was really going around at the time so a couple of people got to sit out of it…yeonjun hyung was one of them and i really wanted to sit out of it too because it means you can rest so as a joke, i rubbed against hyung and was like “hyung~ pass your flu onto me~” but the next day, i was shedding tears of blood because i was so sick 👤🤣 “shedding tears of blood” 🐰 it was the first time i got that sick, my body hurt so much, it felt like it would shatter….but the other members…something that made me feel really unfair was that if the other members were like “i feel like i caught the flu”, the dance teacher would be “okay okay, go home and rest” but starting from me, they started stopping us like “leave after you do this! finish this and then go!”…after the dance lesson, i looked like i was about to die so the dance teacher was like “this is not it, you should go home too” so on my way back to the dorm, i was sobbing like crazy because i was so sad like “why didn’t they let me sit it out 😭” because i was so sick…! 👤 so did it pass on to you when you were like “hyung, pass it onto me~” 🐰 probably..i wasn’t in contact with anyone else that got it and i was only like that with yeonjun hyung so i think it probably passed on then

🐰 something i was really grateful about is that before the unicef speech, i was really really nervous so i contacted namjoon hyung and i was like “hyung, i’m going here and i’m really nervous” 🐰 about 30 minutes before the speech, namjoon hyung suddenly called me and he was like “fighting! there’s a video i watch when i’m nervous, i’ll send it to you” and then he sent it to me 🐰 he said “the people there aren’t going to be nervous, they’re going to be relaxed and comfortable while watching you. you’re the only one that’s nervous there so be relaxed while doing it too.” and come to think of it, it was true! it felt like i was the only one that’s nervous was nervous; the atmosphere there was lighter and more cheerful than expected so i was able to feel light hearted because hyung cheered me on like that ❤️ 🐰 i was so nervous the night before that i couldn’t fall asleep till 5-6am because my heart was beating too fast 🐰 it was the first time in ages i was that nervous 🐰 but it ended well so that’s good 👍

🦊: i mentioned earlier that i really enjoyed BTS sunbaenims’ concert it was really my life long concert 🐈: it was so cool. when i was a trainee in 2019, the last concert i saw was speak yourself, and it was just amazing 🐈: we even saw the sunbaenims before they went on stage, right? 🦊: yes 🐈: it really… because of that i think it helps us prepare well for our own concerts too 🦊: i said the same thing! it was really nice

Audi A2. A car you probably forgot existed. And that’s strange because this was ahead of its time. Aluminium body, lightweight and maximum efficiency to achieve 100 mpg. Built for efficiency before it became a trend. The design was unusual, looked more like a blob, but it was functional. Didn’t really fit what people expected from Audi at the time. And that’s where it struggled. It was smart, but not appealing. So people ignored it and maybe went for an A6 or A4. And today, it’s one of those cars you remember… but never really talk about.

We had already closed it off - like, it was finished. But he squeezed in through the door after it was closed. I guess from the company’s point of view, they suddenly thought they needed one more person. So at first, we weren’t very happy about Wooyoungie joining. 🧸 “how do you feel after getting lasik? is it good?” i’ll tell you guys this! before i got my tonsillectomy, i looked up a lot of vlogs and…a majority of people said that they felt like they were going to die so i was really worried before the surgery but i’m tolerant to pain so it was better than i excepted…my mom always made porridge for me so i ate that well too, ate it for every meal, took my medicines and left the humidifier on so…of course it hurt a bit because i got surgery but it wasn’t that bad 🧸 but after i got my lasik eye surgery, my eyes and nose were running for 6 hours straight and you know how your eyes really hurt when you make eye contact with the sun…like you tear up and your eyes hurt…it was that feeling for 6 hours straight like even if i had my eyes closed, it felt like the sunlight was inside my eyes and i was fighting it for 6 hours straight 🧸 so for the tonsillectomy, i couldn’t eat what i wanted and i couldn’t talk so that discomfort was the thing that was hard…it didn’t hurt but for the lasik eye surgery, my eyes really hurt a lot! the really fascinating thing though is that i was like “mom, this is so hard!!” for 6 hours and then i got tired of it so i fell asleep and when i woke up after 3 hours, i could see the world really well, i was fascinated and was like “mom!! it doesn’t hurt at all anymore and i can see things very well!!”
