Be the kind of person who offers help before someone has to ask. This bus driver stops everyday and literally picks the young lady up and carries her on the bus. That’s not part of his job description, that is from his heart! This gentleman sees a need and fills the need with kindness. Would you ever go the extra mile for someone, not because you have to, but because you can? It cost nothing to be kind!

Max Levchin explains why B-players hire C-players The co-founder of PayPal and Affirm reflects on the famous Steve Jobs insight that A-players hire A-players, and B-players hire C-players: “It’s profoundly true. But there should be an asterisk explaining why this is true. And the reason for this is fear.” A-players love working with other A-players because they know it will make them better. They want other A-players who challenge them and will tell them when their work isn’t good. Most B-players are net positive too, but as Max argues, some are fearful and will say: “If I have too many B-players or A-players around, I will look terrible and it’ll be very obvious that I’m just not that good. So the way to fix this is for me to become a manager and hire a bunch of people who aren’t very good at all so that I’ll look like the tallest mushroom.” Max continues: “That is the real danger of B-players. Having people who are perfectly willing to do good work day-in and day-out is not the worst thing in the world. There’s plenty of things that A-players will turn their nose from because it’s just not that challenging. B-players are very good for that [type of work]. INVEST IN MANAGERS Student managers at high majors are so valuable to the team, not only from a work standpoint but also with the energy they bring. Often times they are the ones rebounding for players and helping them get their extra work in. I feel like the more programs can invest in their managers to grow on the development side… it will help their players maximize their extra work and also build better managers.

Coaching from the stands is disrespectful to … Your kid!! The best players can figure out solutions on their own, they don’t need help from the stands. Each game is an opportunity for players to learn how to do that. Yes, they will fail, but they will learn. And ultimately they will be a better player because of it. Shouting instructions from the stands only shows that you don’t believe they have the ability to make adjustments, and you aren’t good with failing so they can grow.

We must be concerned about the place that Africa occupies on the world stage. The great powers want to reduce Africa to a purely instrumental entity in the service of their causes and obviously do not want the continent to be able to play an important role. The fractures of the colonial era between a so-called French-speaking, Spanish speaking, Portuguese-speaking, Arabic-speaking and English-speaking Africa have diminished, as have the post-Cold War ideologies that dominated the entire second part of the 20th century. Today Africa wants to be itself, it is “Africanophone” if you allow it. Africa expects more equality, respect, equity and justice in its relations and partnerships with the rest of the world, with the major powers, whatever they may be. Today Africans want to be true partners. In the concert of nations, Africa must be listened to for dialogue to have meaning. The lack of listening perverts the meaning of the dialogue, which turns into a juxtaposition of monologues and biased reasons. Africa certainly does not have the same megaphones as the great powers of the world, but the voice of Africa counts and must count if we want to have Africa as a partner on major international issues. Moreover, Africa expects a true partnership and our allies must make an effort to accept the spirit of such a partnership. Our allies cannot always expect unconditional support from the continent. Nigerians would rather fight in other people's countries than face their own government. They will march in South Africa, protest in the UK, and argue on social media but they will not march against their own leaders. They will not demand better roads, better schools, better electricity. They will not hold their government accountable. And yet, with the right systems, policies, and infrastructure, Nigeria has the potential to be like Dubai or even better. But that will never happen as long as Nigerians keep running instead of fighting. Their country is rich, but their people are poor not because of a lack of resources, but because of a lack of will. 🇿🇦✊🏾

Everything and everyone matters when you’re pursuing greatness and trying to get the most out of players on a team. We are fortunate to have the coaching staff we have. The coaches put in 2-3x the work in preparation as players. I appreciate Coach Tim Walton putting the effort into these moments to create more connection with the young guys. These moments are why these young guys go out and go all out for him. There’s lots that goes into running a team. You need all coaches and players moving in the right direction. All coaches have different styles and techniques to create connection. It’s cool that this is one of them. Ohio State Football

It still pains me and a lot of young people that South Africa is not industrialised, yet we have all the means to do so. We continue to export over 70% of our minerals and create jobs in other countries while our own youth remain unemployed. Education is the tool we must use to industrialise properly. We need to invest in specialised schools; in agriculture where land allows, in energy, mining, and artisan training where minerals and infrastructure demand it. This is how we equip young people to build, innovate, and grow the economy. Let’s have this discussion! #ANCYLatWork
