This question requires morality and honesty… NO HINDSIGHT ALLOWED… strictly in the moment: Did you like Sean Payton going for it on fourth down… Or did you want the safe points before you knew the result of the failed 4th down?

I liked it. I thought going up 14 would be a dagger with how the D was playing and with the storm coming in. Atrocious play call though.

I didn’t necessarily mind the decision to go for it, but…

In the moment, I wanted to take the points. The defense was balling out and a two-score lead would have been huge. I personally didn’t even know the forecast called for blowing snow conditions either. Simply given the tone of the game, forthcoming snow or not, you kick the FG

You knew there was weather that was coming, you know the team and QB you have, the team you're playing, and your defense is playing lights out. 10-0 every single time. It was a disastrous decision and a coach of Payton's tenure and experience should have known better.

Always take the points

Yeah, I liked it in the moment. Stiddy had come off that deep ball to Mims and the TD. Things seemed to be going pretty well. I like being aggressive and putting the dagger in them right then and there. You have no idea how the rest of the game will play out.

I wanted to take the points. If Nix was playing, I would of been ok going for it, cause Nix has shown that he can get this or he can comeback from these if we don't get it. Asking that of Stidham with little playing time, didn't seem right to me.

If Bo Nix were playing, I'd have been more confident about the situation. But this is the backup. Take the points & play defense. But what if Lutz missed that too? Worst day of his career or something else going on?

I don’t have a problem with him going for it there I have a problem with him passing it there. Before the play, I even said please don’t pass it.

This is what changed the entire game. Go up 10-0 and the Pats start feeling pressed and with the way the D was playing likey force a turnover that leads to another score. The weather changes and now Den can play keep away and the Pats have to press. This 1 decision= no SB.

4th and 1 on a weak(er) defense that the offense was putting in work on. Up 14-0 is a game changer with our defense. Aggressive call, but I'm not upset with it. Not Payton's fault. Hindsight 20-20 for people that don't know ball

I didn’t like it because I thought with a backup QB we’re not gonna score a lot, gotta take points when you can especially when your defense is dominating. With Bo, as a fan I’m screaming to go for it every time 🤷♂️.

Saints fan here. Get used to this.. Also, these saying “14-0” would have been ball game. It was just for a first down. No guarantee they get a TD if they pick up the first. Take the points!!

With Bo… yes… With their backup take the points

In the moment I did not like it. If it was Bo Nix there I'm fine with it bc Bo brings mobility in a way that Stiddy doesn't have. With a backup QB in a big game I think you take the 3. That being said. I like Sean showing his confidence in his QB. And if no snow we win.

When you have a top defense you take the Pts in the playoffs imo

I thought they should have kicked. Go up two scores early with a backup QB. Let your doninant defense do it's thing with a comfortable lead.

SP should have known the weather forecast and known any points were good points while the weather was reasonably decent. And with a backup QB? HAVE TO TAKE those points.

liked the decision just not the play call

Take the three go up two scores, with your defense playing the way it was and the forecast for the second half, it's a no brainer. Payton blew it.

Safe points, sir.

Backup QB. Chance to go up two scores. Take the points. It's not that difficult. It wasn't fourth and a foot, neither. It was a full yard, if not a little more.

Absolutely not. We had all the momentum going our direction & IMO were dominating at that point. After this play, the mojo swung the other direction & we never got it back. The storm hits, & we never sustained another drive the rest of the game.

The decision and play call are definitely open to criticism, but there is no way they blocked this play how it was intended to be blocked. It doesn't matter what you decide or call if you can't execute correctly.

i said field goal...........but even if i hadn't.........payton compounded it with a horrible play call or there was miscommunication on what the play was suppose to be. it didn't look like the line was running the same play as stiddy?

In a cold weather game where you know the conditions are going to get worse you take the points

If I had my starting QB, going for it on fourth down makes sense. Backup QB in a championship game, I am taking the points and extending my lead. Timing is everything and you can’t build that trust/timing in one week with a back up QB.

If they were going to go for it, I thought SP should've challenged the spot. While Stiddy might not have gotten the 1st, he looked alot closer than what they spotted him.

No, you take the points there always. AFC Championship? You're up by 7? You're playing a backup QB? You don't have anything close to resembling a true RB 1? Weather is going to turn? You take those points. The play call was embarrassing too. If you are going for it, you better cook up something better than that garbage.

I think he thought that we would not have a better chance to get another 7, then right then. So, I wasn't against it. But whatever play was called was shit! Payton said there was a run called and that Stiddy audibled to a pass play. That's what happens with a backup QB.

I was at the game. I hated it. I have seen five teams lose this post season because they went for it on fourth down instead of taking a chip shot field goal. It’s so incredibly dumb that it defies logic. You take the points in this situation every single time.

In the moment, I honestly thought he should’ve just kicked the FG. Back up QB, bad weather coming later in the game…. They should’ve known that points are at a premium. Also, it wasn’t like the Patriots were scoring TDs at a record pace.

I liked going for it, but hated the call. Should've just ran a sneak.

Points, low scoring game. Too early to not take points.

All honesty, I was calling for points, it’s the AFC Championship, chance to go up 2 scores, momentum fully in favor of Denver
