While rescue teams continue searching through the rubble after the earthquake in Venezuela, volunteers are also looking for pets trapped inside the collapsed buildings. Dogs, cats and other animals are being pulled from the wreckage, scared, injured and waiting to be reunited with their owners. For someone, that scared little dog coming out of the rubble could be the one piece of comfort they have left.

Yesterday we collected 5 beautiful souls from one of the Council Pounds we work alongside All 5 are lovely dogs but heartbreakingly none were claimed by their owners, leaving them facing a very uncertain future This is where rescue partnerships matter Through the network of trusted rescues & contacts we work with across the UK, we are able to step in to help dogs whose time has run out & whose lives may otherwise be at risk Sadly, the number of animals needing rescue continues to grow. Working collaboratively with other organisations allows us to help far more animals than any one centre could alone These dogs will not be finding their forever homes directly through Greenacres Rescue but through one of our trusted rescue partners Before they are ready to complete their rehoming journey, they will need assessments, veterinary care & the time needed to prepare them for the right homes If you are genuinely considering offering a rescue dog a loving home, we always encourage you to visit the website of your local rescue centre & take a look at the dogs currently ready for adoption Supporting rescue work like ours truly makes a difference. After animal activists broke into Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin back in March to rescue several beagles being used for scientific testing — and months of protests — the facility recently agreed to sell 1,500 of their 2,000 dogs to organizations, like Big Dog Ranch Rescue. Now, dozens of the animals are being taken to properties like this one in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin to get checked out by veterinarians before being transferred to rescue shelters and centers that will help them find their forever homes.

Hundreds of beagles could soon have new homes after a pair of animal rescue groups bought 1,500 dogs from a Wisconsin breeding and research facility. Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy announced that they bought 1,500 of 2,000 beagles from the facility, Ridglan Farms, for an undisclosed price. Around 1,000 animal rights activists clashed with police at Ridglan Farms last month as they sought to seize and rescue the beagles. None of the activists were ultimately able to enter the facility at the time. The dogs will now receive medical exams, microchips and vaccinations before being relocated for adoption. It is unclear what will happen to the 500 dogs remaining in the Ridglan Farms facility. Ridglan Farms has denied any mistreatment of the animals but will be surrendering its license this summer, part of a deal to avoid felony animal mistreatment charges after a court found it was violating state veterinary standards.

This woman went to visit this dog shelter that apparently most people don’t know even exists. She was fortunate to go right when they were set to have their play time. Look at all those beautiful dogs who just want a hug. 💔 This shelter gets no visitors and has less than 5 adoptions each month. Less than 5! Let’s help rescue these dogs and clear their shelter.
