If it hits foul pole it’s a homerun. If it hits ur glove an goes over the wall it’s a homerun so if it hits ur glove an then the foul pole it’s a home run

A ball that hits the foul pole before hitting the ground (or wall) is a home run. That’s what happened here. Same as if it bounced off his glove, hit the wall above the home run line, and was caught. I saw this when it happened. It was definitely a weird play.

Ball hits glove, bounces out, hits poll, drops out of play. Homerun. No different than bouncing off Canseco's head and over the fence.

Yes. It was a HR. Even if the RF comes down with the ball, it’s still a HR. It bounced out of his glove and hit the foul pole. HR

Tough break for the fielder but I agree with the call. 📞

It hit the glove first and then lands in foul territory. I'm calling it a foul ball.

If it hit the pole first it's out then.

Trace the ball's path all the way to the bottom of the foul pole netting (purple line). The area circled in red is where the ball glances off of it, which alters the path of the ball just slightly, but enough to see that it did indeed hit the pole. Yellow line is a straight edge.

It hit the glove in fair territory, then it hit the foul poll (which is actually fair territory, beyond the HR fence line) before going out of the park. This would be the same if it hit the foul poll then caromed into the stands right of the 1B foul poll. Home Run.

Clearly a home run. The ball hits the fielder’s glove— it is in play. It bounces off the glove and directly hits the foul pole— upon hitting the pole, the ball is a dead ball and everything that happens afterwards is irrelevant. A ball hitting the pole is a home run.

Hit the Pesky pole. By rule at that park its a home run regardless if it hit his glove first. Kind of like when the ball bounced of Cansecos head for a HR.

Doesn't matter if off the glove. A player can push the ball over the HR wall for a HR

This is click bait. The Fenway rules are well written. Ball hits Pesky pole home run. You know it was ruled that way before you posted it

Home Run. No different than 👇🏼

Player attempted to field ball Ball says "fuck you bitch" and bounces off glove and on pole Ball goes briefly out of the field limits aftet second fielding attempt and contacts fan before player can actually corral ball Ball was a home run the moment it bounced off foul pole

Ball hit the glove, bounced out and hit the foul pole. HR. Everything after the ball hitting the foul pole is irrelevant.

Yes. The OF's glove hit it into the foul pole.

Had to delete my 1st post got it wrong. If it hit the player first in fair territory it's a ground rule double. If it defected off the foul pole and hit his glove it's certainly an HR. It seems like the camera man missed it hitting the pole.

According to my understanding, this is a homerun. The ball goes off the glove and hits the poll, which is the limit to determine if the ball is foul or fair. If a ball hits the pole, it's a homerun. It's as if it would have touched the glove and fallen over the fence. In this case if the pole was not there, it would have fallen in the stands as a fair ball.

How is this even a debate? A player in the field of play reached out for a catch and the ball bounced off his glove onto the foul pole. When a ball hits the foul pole it’s ruled a HR. If he tried to use the foul pole to push the ball into his glove- also a HR.

HR: Hits the pole after hitting the fielders glove.

Why would it not be a home run? It became a homer the instant it touched the foul pole, does not matter that it hit glove first. No different than deflecting off glove and then going over the wall.

At the warning track, if a ball pops out of a glove over the wall it is a home run. If a ball hits the foul pole, it is a home run. Seems pretty clear to me?

Yes, player pushed the ball foul not the ball trajectory

100% a home run. Zero debate/doubt. If this were dead centerfield and it went off the glove in fair territory and then went over the wall it’s a home run. If you don’t believe me ask Jose Canseco’s head.

It is a HR, but you can only tell from the slow motion replay. It first hit his glove in fair territory, making it fair ball. Then, it bounced off his glove and hit the foul pole, making it a homerun.

Whether we agree or not, that's the rule, so of course it's a homerun.

Bigger question would be ball off glove hits pole and then he catches it, how would this be ruled. I'd say still a HR but i dont know.

Just catch the damn ball...stop strolling over ...run your ass into to position to catch the ball.

It appears to hit the foul pole off his glove then bounce into foul territory. It would be the same if it bounced off his glove & over the wall
