Frankly, this ruined the franchise. Introducing aliens into this world was a colossal mistake. For a series dedicated to the love of ancient humanity and culture it was a huge misstep.

Great scene. We humans are trapped inside these crude biological headsets, flesh-made prisons for consciousness. Embodied minds, stumbling through a universe alive with higher-order awareness, transcendent intelligence, and frequencies we can barely perceive.

This film really suffered from being an "Indiana Jones" movie. It had just been in the Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider/National Treasure genre without the Indiana Jones name it would be remembered as very okay. With a few tweaks, it could even have been good.
