this scene is crazy emmet's problem doesn't even stem from him not fitting in, the problem is that he actually blends in too well with everybody else

I think what people miss in this scene, and the movie as a whole, is how Emmett isn’t inherently wrong for being an overly-average yes-man. In fact, the beauty of this movie is how this absurdly normal man went on to save the world just by being himself.

I find it funny how he describes Emmet with a blank face, only for the camera to cut to Emmet doing that exact same face. 😂😂😂😂

MIND YOU he knew ALL their names and said hi to them EVERY day and STILL forgave them after he became the special

Nobody really hated Emmet, they just didn't see anything unique about him, and that might hurt a lot more for those who desperately want people to like them

No cuz like how were old movies that good at conveying things like that.

honestly no idea, feels really rare to see movies these days convey this kinda thing

He tried too hard to fit in to the point where he didn’t let himself become his own person

this is getting a lot of traction so lemme do the obligatory self promo reply i also relate to emmet a lot when it comes to being in any social space, especially in real life i think i easily blend into a crowd and i feel like a pretty generic person overall

i'm a very good listener, i feel like i actually do try saying "yes to what everybody else is doing" main point being, i really do relate heavily to this scene i do have my own interests though. i like nintendo, fnf, movies, art, music and a variety of other things too

if you're into any of that or wanna get to know me more, feel free to follow ✌️

I still think the first lego movie is the best of all other lego movies and even at 7 years old when I first watched I was "damn that shit hurts". Truly a masterpiece

@Offbeetcat Who filmed this shit Like did some of Lord Business’ robots film these confessionals

that's what made the scene so heart-wrenching. And it made the theme even more impactful. The idea of just fitting in without letting yourself be expressive. It encourages being individual by showing the consequences of fitting in, and it shows the glory in individualism!

my inferiority complex ahh related with this scene so hard watching this movie

"His face is so generic, it matches every other face in our database."

Just noticed his eyes don’t have white or any distinctive features like the others.

"He was so good at fitting in no one ever saw him."

"When you say Harry, I go 😂 When you say the other guy, I go 😐"

Okay, but that quick "that'll be 42 dollars" for a cup of coffee is legit hilarious.

It’s never occurred to me until now but Emmet is so generic he doesn’t have any unique face details like everyone else, just two dot eyes and a line mouth.

F to all the people out there named Emmett who watched this

I will always love this movie cause it really captured a part of being autistic, we can mask perfectly and it will still be wrong some how.

holy hell ts blew up from crazy lmao top 10 facts by bestie

thanks ame my goat <3

one thing that’s interesting is how Emmet is given the like original LEGO face with just the two black dots and the basic mouth while everyone else has the white dots in their eyes, beards, freckles, etc. his design reflects how he blends in and is so unremarkable to others

It worked so well for Warner Animation Group, that they decided to just completely rehash the exact same ‘protagonist starts off as a nobody’ where it ends up becoming shameless, uninspiring, and utterly boring to the viewers who are expecting change in their movies!!

The real sad part about it is, nobody being interviewed is trying to be mean, they're just saying what they honestly think. The guy at the end even cringes like he know what he's about to say is harsh, but he's gotta be honest.

I’m never hating on Emmet. I got so mad in the second movie where they all blamed him for the others getting kidnapped, when they just sat there, sucking their thumbs like a bunch of whiny babies

This is so autistic coded oh my god

Makes me cry when watching sometimes.

I guess it’s because his only life was following the instructions, he never had any original ideas or quirks, just mindlessly following the instructions better than anyone else. With that being said, I don’t think other citizens followed what he did.

the lego movie is too peak

It's such a fun twist on the classic "outcast who doesn't fit in" trope by having someone who fits in so well that no-one notices him

Those jerks are the real ones who are nothing! )=<

$42 DOLLARS FOR COFFEE I ALWAYS GET CAUGHT BY THAT
