This scene is so amazing. It’s so confusing how it’s so divisive among the fanbase.

I enjoy it because Dunban has experienced a far deeper personal betrayal. He doesn't misunderstand Shulk, he respects where he's coming from but thinks his way is better. It kind of sucks that Mumkhar gets blasted by Karma right after so you never see who really is right.

When I was younger I was mad at this part because I liked the revenge plotline. Now that I'm older and got over my edgy phase, I respect Shulk quite a bit for pumping the brakes and going "We need to learn the full picture before we start taking lives."

It’s cause a bunch of people don’t like that Shulk actually grows and realizes his quest for revenge isn’t what he truly wants anymore

Because xenoblade 1 is close to the source material and I like the dub. I will only criticize things that I’m 1 familiar with and 2 that genuinely detract from the experience or narrative for example megaman, Metroid and some others. Nobody is forcing you to play dubbed

I mean at this point, it's a standard in Japanese media. They will always push for the concept of " blind revenge leads to more violence " or something like that. I've seen it over and over in anime, manga and games that it does not surprise me at all anymore 🤷‍♀️.

I do like the scene but it’s also fun to call out Shulk as a hypocrite when not too long before this he was saying to Melia, “You’re your own person, and what you need is revenge.” And NOW he’s telling everyone to pump the breaks 😆

The moment is somewhat marred by how forced it is.

My gripe is that Shulk's speech is a non sequitur. Blind revenge against all Mechon would be wrong, yes, but Dunban isn't taking revenge on ALL Mechon. He's taking revenge on Mumkar, specifically, who was already a backstabbing psychopath even before becoming Metal Face.

The idea of the scene is good because it shows Shulk is getting away from the revenge mindset and that’s what will set him apart from Egil later. That said I do think it might’ve been better like “Fiora doesn’t remember us, how do we know for sure Mumkhar’s even himself rn”

I love this scene, imo. It shows how differently Shulk & Dunban are handling the truckloads of trauma dumped on them. Even after he abandoned them at Sword Valley, Dunban probably still mourned Mumkhar as a brother. So to have that memory tarnished like this in the worst way…

People need to understand that killing evil people is beneficial most of the times. Imagine dude did not survive, he'd be back for more.

I nearly stop playing the game because of that. Dunban will be done such good thing for the homs and shulk come with Naruto speech jutsu. BTW great game, love the Franchise, and XC1 has the best antagonist

Here’s my Take on this scene Shulk isn’t trying to forgive munkar here to let him live he’s only stopping Dunban cause He wants to know what happened and why Homs are being trapped in machines but he still hates him enough to want him dead but can’t make him kill another Homs

Feels very forced at that specific moment in the story and not really earned as a change of heart. Game is still way better than 2 but 3 is the best
