When people say, “at least his mom loved him,” they forget that memories can’t physically keep a starving, isolated kid alive. He has nothing but a brilliant talent he never even asked for. Instead of being his ticket out of poverty, his genius became a curse that stripped away everyone he loved, from his parents to Kang Pio. Pio was the only person who made Jeongyo feel safe enough to finally drop his guard and just breathe. He didn't want to be a prodigy, he just wanted to survive and have someone to share his happiness with. It breaks my heart that the very gift meant to lift him up is what drags him through hell, ruining his most treasured friendship through no fault of his own. If he walks away from the piano in the future, it won't just be because of a physical injury from getting shot, but it’ll be because the music itself is a painful reminder of everyone his talent cost him.
