Gabi is so brainwashed and I think it’s some of the best story work AoT has to offer. I just wish it was honest enough to acknowledge there are vicious acts that do need to be made sometimes as it’s the best of two bad decisions. Even in a world of cascading bad events, someone can be the person to stop the cycle. It’s what the original king Fritz attempted and the story wrongly assumes his efforts were in vain and doesn’t acknowledge that momentary peace is always worth an attempt despite what may happen later. The show is unfortunately nihilistic when we have seen the opposite result and mentality play out in reality.
