One of the most haunting scenes in Apocalypse Now — Captain Willard alone in his hotel room — was entirely unscripted. Martin Sheen, genuinely drunk, told the crew to just let the cameras roll. What followed was real: he punched an actual mirror, cutting his thumb, then broke down sobbing and attempted to attack director Francis Ford Coppola. The crew wanted to stop filming but Sheen insisted they keep going, later revealing he was battling a drinking problem and used the scene to confront his own inner demons. The moment was disclosed years later in a conversation between Sheen and Coppola, and is visible in the Redux version of the film

Chilling 911 from 2014 made by Andrew Ward after he fatally stabbed his 12-year-old half-brother, Austin Tapio, because ‘he felt like it’. Upon arriving at the scene officers discovered the 12-year-old's body with multiple stab wounds. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Ward was subsequently arrested and charged with the killing. However, this wouldn’t be his last crime. In April 2014, Ward, who was already behind bars, was re-arrested and booked for the killing of his cellmate, Douglas Walker. Walker was stabbed in the eyes and throat, and that he was also beaten and his breathing passages were obstructed by a plastic bag. Ward was later sentenced to two consecutive life sentences.

Let’s put all our gold bars on the table. “A random sample of 450 bars (8.55 per cent of the RBA's holdings) were selected by Audit and notified to the BoE prior to Audit's arrival on-site, hence the location and retrieval from the vaults was not witnessed!” •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• In Estimates I asked the RBA if they would cooperate with the new U.S. administration when they audit the gold holdings at Fort Knox. Needless to say they took the answer on notice. It is however worth nothing that the claim by the RBA that an audit of Australia’s gold bars has been carried out is misleading. The RBA has carried out a “partial”audit of selected gold bars, only 460 of the 5,285 bars on hand and the RBA had to give prior notice of the bars they wanted to audit before they arrived. Had the RBA done their job properly they should have audited all 5,285 bars at the same time with no notice and observed the bars being removed from the vaults. Furthermore Audit reports should be done yearly, not every three years. You can read the audit report below. It’s worth nothing that the RBA has lent or swapped 1,202 bars of gold out or 22% of our entire gold holdings. These transactions are designed to force down the price of gold which is against Australia’s national interest as we are an exporter of gold. More worryingly is how do we know that the gold bars inspected by the RBA weren’t lent by another country on a short term basis to cover the audit. What is also concerning is the large amount of refining going on as evidenced by the large number of different refiners. Gold bars held by central banks should not move or be refined as it undermines confidence in their intentions. The only way to rectify this uncertainty is to audit all gold holdings at the same time and to stop lending/leasing gold bars. #auspol

Late this afternoon, I spoke with the attorney for the family of Robert Brooks who was beaten by corrections officers at Marcy Correctional Facility and died the next day. His family lives here in Rochester and was shown the BWC on Monday. He will be laid to rest this weekend.

This batter was hit by a pitch. The problem is, he stuck his hand out. The umpire said he was struck by the pitch and awarded him first base. The coach came out to argue and said he stuck his hand out. The field umpire came in and told the plate umpire he did stick his hand out. But the plate umpire said or meant to say he didn’t do it intentionally but rather defensively. I had this happen to me at 14 years old. Fast ball right at me and reactively I put my hand up to block it. The ump awarded me first base. What do you think?
