So many of the fakes use high pitch voices, like it's a requirement

I hate how these cats shrink up their voices

This guy gets it. From what I can tell this is maybe second or third generation Jamaicans (or wanabes) trying to emulate Patios but don't know how to do it. Most of the Jamaican parents I have met would never let their kids talk this way.

For starters I'm white and can agree that shit sounds corny af you know the OG accent when you hear it and right away your brain says that's a badmon

tired of the minstrelsy lite man, making performance (read mockery) of black torontonian dialects is not benign

every generation thinks the one after them is butchering the way people talk. it's been happening forever. the "original" toronto accent they're nostalgic for? there was probably someone back then complaining about how kids were ruining that one too. language is alive. it shifts, it blends, it adapts. you can't freeze it in time just because you're comfortable with how it sounded when you were young.

Man it's just like listening to UK niggas

The real ghetto Toronto accent.

I think you are comparing accents to slangs. Father didn't really say anything slang-wise. Those kids were over, exaggerated slang

It’s not a caricature—it’s an accent from a different era to varying degrees in GTA. Yeah, some kids exaggerate it, but it’s still real for a lot of people. We’re just doing what older generations did to us—dismissing what’s new like it’s not valid.

Its a caricature.

Ok.

Keep calling it out this shit needs to end

Internet content accents 🤦🏾♂️

@BrendanLLM What’s really strange is things like this AI account perpetuating the two twos my word stuff

It’s not a “Toronto” accent.

yall are giving them publicity and falling for the bait they are doing that for engagement
