This UC Irvine student thought it would be funny to assume we were pro-life and then ask if it’s better to spit or swallow. Since he felt the need to connect his juvenile question to abortion, I felt the need to disabuse him of that notion. Oftentimes immature and ignorant people will compare sperm to a human fetus or say that if abortion ends a human life, then masturbation must be a genocide, etc. This displays not only a profound intellectual and emotional immaturity but also a lack of even a rudimentary understanding of the stages of human life. You were never a sperm, but you were a fetus in your mother’s uterus. #WalkAway doesn’t take a particular stance on abortion, but I do. And whatever stance you take, it’s important to have the facts and not embarrass yourself on the mic when we’re here to have worthwhile and challenging conversations.
