i saw this movie 3 times in theatres - and dozens of times at home since buying the movie - and this sequence brings me to tears literally EVERY TIME.

Heres the thing that gets me about this scene, because was this not supposed to be her canon event? If she couldn't hold up the Chopper, her dad would die here too, and as a soon to be police captain, would it not also fit with the canon? So why does she get to save her dad?
