This short was withheld for years because the Warner Bros. management at the time didn’t like the satire of their huge “Bugs Bunny’s 50th Anniversary” promotion - which, as this 1989 Macy’s parade performance shows, was as corny as the short made it out to be.

The 50th campaign was the brainchild of WB Consumer Products founder Dan Romanelli who hit it big with the 1989 Batman (Dan Dockery’s recent “I Am the Knight” recalls he would introduce himself by responding to Joker’s “Where does he get all those wonderful toys?” with “From me”)

For better or for worse, Romanelli was responsible for the huge Looney Tunes consumer push to make Bugs Bunny as inescapable as Mickey Mouse, from Space Jam to opening the WB Studio Store as a direct Disney Store competitor.

Apparently, this short was meant to be played before “Rover Dangerfield” but was instead replaced with a reissue of “Robin Hood Daffy”.

I didn't think this was bad as a parade float performance until the singing started. Although I've got to say, that's a really good Yosemite Sam costume.

This was most likely the debut of the Looney Tunes Scollon Productions costume designs used at Six Flags parks and Warner Bros. Studio Stores during the 90s into the early 2000s (though Pepe Le Pew didn't get a new costume design in the 2000s like the others did).

Most things from 1989 were a unique brand of corny

ngl if my calculations are correct, this is prolly the first time jeff bergman depicted these characters

@chomper1994 Huh. The more you know
