I don't think that's paint, it's black stain. I've stained wood black and it looks good after it dries, and still shows off the wood.

It’s the equivalent of white carpeting.

I'm just grateful they didn't cover up the wood. I've seen too many people rip out wood flooring and then epoxy everything to hell.

That's not paint, it's a dark stain and it will be gorgeous when dried and the grain comes back out. It will dry flat or matte as well, not shiny like that. Wish there was an 'after' pic.

Don't worry. Someone will buy the place and then post a video of how they stripped the ugly black paint and restored the beautiful wood floor.
