"For some people, life just works better on rails" is so true. Few people are entrepeneurs.

Not everyone can be the 1% by definition.

Slingshot analagy goated honestly

Why would you spend all that money on college? You could buy lottery tickets and be a millionaire. Look at how rich lottery winners are. You really think that people with 4 year degrees are better off?

College includes trade school's. That's my only caveat to this. There is a reason so many people go back to college later in life. They realized not going was a mistake.

Only the poor and the stupid aren’t planning to send their kids to college

It's funny Destiny has logical capitalist take here, that most people will have to do boring and necessary jobs, and Graham has the progressive but detached from reality take that everyone can just be a creative if they want and we will all get by just fine.

This is when it's useful to remember that 50% of the population has an IQ under 100. Yeah, people need to just listen up and fucking learn shit.

The internet exists dude. Why do you have to go to university to learn about something? Every bit of information is at your fingertips for the price of a service provider.

I found college to be a very good place for creative critical thinking. What’s funny is that the types of fields and departments these folks despise the most are also the places that create the most space for critical and creative thought

The fact that these two seemingly young?Retards think that going to college is just laughable is peek 2026 We're so fucked. I remember leaving college for a year, and realizing each month after I left that Im completely fucked. Most people are dumb though. So by all meansdont go

I would agree with you if college hadn’t outpaced wage growth by like 10x. There was definitely a time where going to college was worth it but now it’s just not worth it whatsoever. My dad works for the state and is making over 120k a year with no degree and tremendous benefits.

It’s controversial because of where AI is headed. If school was cheap and affordable, it would be fine. Now if you’re going to school, you’re screwed.

Aside from medical fields, what NEEDS to be taught in a college that can't be learned over YouTube?

Those guys aren’t telling the young people in their families to skip college.

Imagine advocating for young people to go into debt for a 50% underemployment rate College post 2019 became completely useless for anyone not pursuing medicine, law, or engineering. College is a 4 year sabbatical for the children of the wealthiest to network. That’s all.

It’s not a waste of time. It’s a gigantic waste of money and the reason younger people are drowning in debt and have no future. Skip college.

Average in-state college cost: over $100k That turns into $1M tax free in 24 years in a 401k in the stock market. So this this "$1,000,000 extra earnings" figure is silly. By the time you're done a 40 year career, just the cost of college would have turned into $4.5M @ 10%

I never agree with this guy but he’s right about this one AS LONG AS you don’t put yourself deep deep into debt to get that degree. Or if you spend a ton of money there should be a financially rewarding job waiting for you.

If you want to be a Doctor, Engineer, or Lawyer - you’ll need a degree. If you’re unsure of what you want to pursue, then I agree that it’s better skipping college instead of majoring in basketweaving. Basically either study STEM or high-demand field, or don’t go to school

Unfortunately you need a college degree to enter certain professions, the problem is you have most of your time wasted learning outdated irrelevant information. It took me a year to find a job after graduating because I didn’t know the main software used by architects.

It's not. The rails are good it's just that the price to ride is a little too high.

I think you're both right. The good news is that interest in college isn't going anywhere. And we need ppl to go to school. Some people are more geared to figure things out another way without taking on debt, that's fine too. Classrooms aren't for everyone.

This might become especially untrue as AI agents let us abdicate menial and difficult tasks and remove barriers between human imagination and physical realization. Much the same way that Ableton/FL/Logic and the advent of VSTs democratized high-quality music production, we’ll see similar doors open in video games, animation video, app building, etc. Creativity will only become more and more important to a person’s success and to the economy.

I run my business and you need a masters degree for my job licenses. I have to give potential hires a 10 question test to see if they can answer questions that are in the sophomore level. Over 90% fail so something is wrong with the lack of knowledge coming out of college.

You are so fucking braindead

You posted this as a flex? You said literally nothing and rambled like a fucking crackhead. All that fucking dope has destroyed you brain.

There are better (cheaper) ways for people to get those "rails" if it's ultimately not the education itself that makes a difference for their future.

I think that if your priority is simply to stack as much money as possible, their perspective is fair. If your priority is to become a more well-rounded individual, your perspective is fair.

Destiny is not a bright individual. He sure loves to think he is though. This is the SAME exact rhetoric our parents told us. Look at us now? BURRRIIED in school debt in loans that will never get paid off and many if not most aren't even in the field they went to school for.

If you don't have a formal education in this day and age, you're basically unhireable. This isn't even an argument.

This is a good take. For people who want to get a regular job that doesn’t require highly creative work collage is the most optimal. But not everyone wants to do that. Creative people in environments where they’re not able to use/express it will do anything to get out of that environment.

@thePAXWAX That slingshot analogy was ass, because the more you pull back the more likely it will hit the target 🤦♂️

@TemplarJosh88 This is the SAME shit that our parents told us... Look at our national debt now in relation to student loans: 1.83 TRILLION... only 2nd to general mortgages.... And what do you know, Student loans is 1 of of only 2 types of debt that CANNOT be escaped... lmfao
