There is plenty of evidence for gratitude having psychological benefits. I don't agree with the magical thinking portion, but we can agree that gratitude literally has benefits.

Funny you are posting this. Never heard of it, but this morning. When I branc out our Christmas tree to get picked up, I and I really don’t know why, said thanks to the Christmas’s tree that he did hold up so well and gave us a nice Christmas. I kinda felt like a weirdo in this moment. Don’t know what to make of it. But it just came out.

Technically if you're talking about dollars which I'm assuming you are them you are in fact NOT talking about money but rather currency....specifically fiat currency. Tomorrow that currency could go the way of the dodo bird and be completely worthless.
