Bit of a break from politics. Here's a wonderful & very emotional clip from Band of Brothers. WWII has ended. The German forces have surrendered and a German general asks permission to give a parting address to his soldiers. The men listen as the General's words are translated by an American soldier. Its interesting to observe the faces of the allied troops, as they slowly realise that the words of the German General apply just as well to themselves. Then the unspoken thought arises. Have they been fighting and killing their own brothers? The overall scene is a brilliant comment on who really suffers from wars. Its a very succinct and understated message that has more impact for the subdued manner by which it is conveyed. IMHO a wonderful piece of screenplay.

An incredible act of bravery amidst the horrors at the mass shooting during a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach in Sydney this evening. Twelve people have now been confirmed dead and multiple more injured. I’m still in shock from the distressing images coming out of this beautiful place, capturing a completely unrecognisable Australia. Thank you to this HERO and prayers for the victims and their families, the Jewish community, all those present during the attack, as well as our leaders as they respond to this tragedy 🙏💔

David Rush worked as a high-ranking official in the CIA on a career based entirely on brazen lies. An investigation by the FBI found that Rush had used false information about his education and military experience to gain higher positions in the military and government. Rush applied three times to the CIA, falsely stating that he had degrees from Clemson University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, as well as an evaluation certification from the US Naval Test Pilot School. None of these claims was true, and neither was the master’s degree in computing technology from the Naval Postgraduate School that Rush claimed to have as well. Investigators noted that employees get higher pay based on education and that his fake master's, “would generally be expected to receive a higher pay scale.” The Federal Aviation Administration says they have no record of Rush, even though he claimed to have graduated from the Air Force Test Pilot School on an application to the CIA’s Senior Executive Service level rank. Rush convinced the CIA to give him the gold bars for “work-related expenses.” During the raid on Rush’s home, investigators found 300 1-kilogram gold bars, $2 million cash, and 35 luxury watches. A spokesperson for the CIA said, “The FBI is working closely with our partners at the CIA and the Department of Justice as we continue to investigate this matter fully.
