King penguin chicks are pretty adorable. Like emperor penguins, king penguin chicks depend on their parents for food and protection during their early days. They are covered in fluffy brownish-grey down feathers to keep them warm. As they grow, their down feathers will be replaced with waterproof feathers, and they will begin to venture out into the world independently. King penguins are the second largest species of penguin, with adults standing at around 3.3 feet tall, found in the wild on sub-Antarctic islands.
