In Baloch culture, the status of a woman is held in the highest regard. When a woman intervenes in the battlefield to call for peace, firing guns are silenced; and when a woman approaches the opposing side to seek reconciliation in bloody disputes, even the guilty are forgiven. Raising a hand against a woman is, in Baloch culture and tradition, tantamount to a declaration of war. By trampling upon Baloch honor, dignity, and customs, Pakistan has begun abducting and forcibly disappearing Baloch sisters and mothers. The occupying generals of Rawalpindi and Punjab must realize that they have provoked the honor of the Baloch nation a challenge for which they may have to pay a heavy price. Just as Baloch people may spare lives at a woman’s intervention, they can also take decisive action against those who raise a hand against Baloch women or abduct them.
