Like, we were trying to win the Masters, I’m not going to try and be his mate out there.” Although I think the story was blown out of proportion from what was actually said by Bryson, this is a great answer from Rory and exactly what you want to see from elite athletes. Rory was trying to achieve an historic accomplishment and his mind should only be focused on that moment without distraction. It probably helped him get it over the line. I do also love that the Rory and Bryson rivalry has developed organically over the last few seasons. It’s been totally authentic based on awesome play on the course and a difference of opinion off it. Hopefully we get another match up and both players contend at the PGA Championship this weekend.
