I’d disagree on your mentality critique. I think it’s a statement of trying to start tomorrow being content with what he’s achieved and reminding himself that whatever happens tomorrow won’t define his career because he already has the career Grand Slam. I think he’s making the case that he can play with less pressure and more freely because he’s not trying to climb the Masters mountain for the first time, he’s already been there and now has a chance to do it again. Whether that plays out tomorrow remains to be seen. Should be a really fun Sunday with five of the top 8 being former Major champions, and the other three being Cameron Young who is a former Ryder Cupper and winner of The Players this year, Sam Burns who is a former Ryder Cupper, and Haotong Li who is a former President’s Cup international team member. Everyone has experienced varying degrees of high stakes situations before in events that are at the pinnacle of the sport.

Sorry Jon (and I am not normally one to do or say this to people initially) but you are talking so far out of your ass it is unreal. Classic misunderstanding of how a Northern Irishman talks. There is no arrogance here and none of that "one Masters is enough for me" bollocks at all. It's his way of communicating to himself to take the pressure off...i.e he has won the Masters before so he doesn't NEED to put pressure on himself at this point because he has faced it before and overcome it. Genuinely boggles my mind how you take anything else but that from this interview. Hating on someone for the sake of it and trying to find any little thing to criticise them on is pathetic behaviour.

I took his green jacket comment as his way of reminding himself that he has done this before. Professional sports is all about confidence, it’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Despite his Saturday round he is still tied for the lead going into the final round. All you can ask for in professional golf is to be in position to win on the last day. The other guys are good at golf too, and Augusta National is not an easy course.

From a guy who has never played anything at that level. He has to get his head back to neutral. Not caring is where you need to get to. You wallow, and you shot 79 tomorrow. You detach, you can shoot another 66.

Golfers today don't have the mentality of excellence and achievement. They can make millions finishing in the top 30 every year. They don't have the killer attitude of Nichlaus, Palmer, Casper, Player, Trevino, Miller, Watson and all the greats of the past who had to win to feed their families. A lot of money ruins people and sports. You see this in every sport. That's why when one person comes along with the killer attitude of winning he or she is a freak compared to others around them.
